Diem Brown, 32, was a reality star who was a fighter, a survivor, and a warrior against cancer. Sadly, Brown has passed away at 10:22 a.m., the exact same time she came into this world on June 12, 1982. Shortly after her passing, the fire alarm went off in the hospital, flashing lights and sirens. Her loved ones believe it was Diem in heaven already partying and having a good time. Diem was a recurring cast member on MTV’s series The Challenge in addition to being an entertainment reporter. In the above video you can follow Diem Brown through her struggle against cancer, watch her first moment on Real World when she removed her wig, watch the moment Diem’s on-again-off-again boyfriend CT first falls for her and see how her family reacts to her battle. Read on for the facts on Brown’s death.

Brown leaves behind a father, sisters (Megan and Faith) and a brother Jarrod.

1. Brown Has Overcome Cancer Twice

When Brown was 23 years old she was first diagnosed with Ovarian cancer. She fought through and beat the disease only to be diagnosed again in 2012. Her reaction was:

I know I will be fine. I beat Cancer once & I’m gonna do it again! I know God has a reason for every speed bump in life & I’m ready.

She beat the disease a second time, but this time she was not so lucky. Over the summer, Diem Brown was told the cancer that had been found in her stomach and colon in August had spread to her liver and lymph nodes. On October 30, 2014, Diem told Hollywood Life that she was going to beat cancer once again:

I’m going to have a family and get married and the whole American, 2½ kids, white-picket-fence dream. It’s something that’s really important to me, because it means a long-term future.

In the above video, you can watch Diem’s first time revealing a buzzed head to the world, after beating ovarian cancer, when she removed her wig on MTV’s The Challenge: The Duel.

2. Recently Brown Revealed her Doctors Had Given Up Hope, But She Was Still Fighting

Recently, Diem has posted on Instagram and Twitter that her doctors had pretty much given up hope, but that she won’t take “no” for an answer. She was trying to find any way to overcome her cancer. MTV released the following statement upon hearing of Diem’s death:

MTV is tremendously sad to hear the news that Diem Brown has lost her long battle with cancer. We send our deepest condolences to her family and friends. Diem was a true fighter and brought passion to everything she touched. We will miss her.

Close friend of Diem, Julie Rotondi, told People about how Diem didn’t want to give up and she didn’t want her fans to think she had either.

We kept telling her, ‘This is not giving up. You have fought enough. It wasn’t a sign of weakness. It wasn’t about giving up. In the end, it wasn’t like, ‘Do you want to keep fighting?’ In the end, there is nothing they can do. It just became so aggressive, so fast. The cancer was just multiplying at such an aggressive rate that nothing could keep up. Any treatment that could have maybe prolonged [her life] for a week or two and it would have been a horrible, horrible ending.

3. Real World Ex-Boyfriend CT Visited her in the Hospital Throughout her Struggle

CT Tamburello is the off-and-on love of Diem Brown. We saw them first get together on the Real World Challenge: The Duel, when Brown had recovered from ovarian cancer. She was wearing a wig and had a shaved head. CT fell in love with her, calling her a sexy G.I. Jane. Over the years, the two have struggled with their relationship together, but CT clearly will always have love for Diem, visiting her in the hospital as she’s been sick. He posted the above photo two months ago with this caption:

Sometimes just being there for someone can be the difference between a good and bad day. @diembrown could definitely use a few… Please goto her support page: http://www.medgift.com/diemsnextchallenge #medgift

4. She Is the Founder of MedGift

Brown told People in October 2014:

I want people to know that the fight is worth it. And that’s something that’s so important for me.

Brown has been a true fight and advocate to fight cancer as a founder of MedGift. Via MedGift you can start your own fundraisers, support pages and more when battling a disease like cancer. The website reads:

5. Brown Collapsed While Filming Another Real World Challenge This Summer

According to People:

Her world was turned upside down once more when she collapsed with crippling stomach pains while filming a new reality competition. The devastating diagnosis: Her cancer had returned, this time in both her colon and stomach lining.

Diem was airlifted from Panama to New York and received emergency surgery to remove a tumor in her colon. On-again-off-again boyfriend CT flew to be by her side. Below is their cast photo from the upcoming season:

We may see Diem’s ordeal play out a little in the next season of the show or see some sort of tribute to the star. Diem still keeps in touch with several of her MTV buddies. Recently, former cast member Cara Mia sent Diem a check and a “get well” note. You can view the note in the below Twit pic Diem posted.

Diem Brown had appeared on MTV’s Made as well as the Real World Challenges.
