Dancing with the Stars cohost and Fox Sports reporter Erin Andrews has been with her pro-athlete boyfriend Jarret Stoll since late 2012.
Here’s what you should know about the Canadian native.
1. He’s Won 2 Stanley Cups
The 32-year-old accomplished this playing with the Los Angeles Kings in 2012 and 2014.
Andrews cheered her boyfriend on, and told ABC,
“It was a stressful couple of months with the playoffs. The Kings didn’t make it easy on their loved ones. We’ve taken the past couple of weeks to enjoy what the team was able to accomplish and what he was able to accomplish. They start back in a month and are already taking trying to win a third cup!”
Being a sports commentator, Andrews can hold her own when discussing sports, which is only a minor point of contention in their relationship.
Stoll told E! News, “There’s obviously some sports she knows a little bit more about than me, it bothers me a little bit, but I’ll take it.”
2. Michael Strahan Set Him Up with Erin
The Live With Kelly and Michael host and former Giants star, Michael Strahan worked his magic on the pair.
Andrews, 36, told Your Tango, “He’s friends with both of us. And I knew Strahan wouldn’t set me up with someone I wouldn’t be interested in. He was good looking, but at first I said, “I don’t know …” But Strahan said, “Just go to dinner. Trust me.”
Their first date came on the heels of Valentines Day and Stoll had a game the following day, so it was cut short.
“We actually went for a nice dinner. We spent that day out in Malibu, it was like the day before [Valentine’s Day]…had a great day out there and then had a nice dinner out here by the beach,” he told E!News.
Rumors that they were together came after in early 2013, when Andrews posted an Instagram picture of her and Stoll with their arms around each other on New Year’s Eve.
Here’s a tweet she sent at the time:
3. He Wouldn’t Be Good for ‘DWTS’
In March of 2014. Andrews joined Dancing with the Stars, replacing Brooke Burke-Charvet. Although she once competed on the reality show herself, she doesn’t see a dancing career in her boyfriend’s future.
“I don’t think my man would do very well being in hair and makeup. He would not like that whole ordeal. He does love fashion, but I don’t think he would enjoy being in the hair and makeup trailer very long.”
4. He Broke off an Engagement to Rod Stewart’s Ex
Seven weeks before his 2009 wedding to Rachel Hunter, Rod Stewart’s ex wife, he emailed guests saying it was off.
The couple lived together in L.A. with Hunter’s children by Stewart, Renee and Liam.
Stoll was 13 years younger than Hunter, and later she saw it as a problem.
After the split, she told Hello! magazine:
When Jarret made the decision… for us to split up the engagement and stuff, that set off a rollercoaster of emotions for me… And it’s very hard: your self-esteem, your pride. I actually didn’t realize at the time that it affected me as much as it did. I think there are always two sides to a story. And he was very much younger than me. I should have known better… But honestly, what was I thinking? He’s so much younger. And it happened for the right reasons. As much as it’s hard for you at that time, you realise there’s a bigger picture, a bigger plan.
5. He’s a Neat Freak
Watch the clip above, where he prepares for a game and takes us into his meticulous closet.
His girlfriend, a self-proclaimed “slob,” told ABC:
I don’t know if you watch the show Friends, but Monica Geller, how she was an absolute neat freak, that’s him. I’m dating Monica Geller. He’s an OCD clean freak and I’m a slob.
