Wendy Williams is known as a powerful woman with a net worth of $60 million and it takes a strong man to stand behind her. So, who is the man with the confidence to be married to the amazing Ms. Williams? Kevin Hunter. Wendy Williams and her husband have been married since 1997, standing the test of Hollywood together. The couple has one teenage son together, who they named after dad Kevin. Read on for the facts on the couple, a cheating past and all about Hunter below.
1. Kevin Hunter’s Cheating On Williams Made Their Marriage Stronger?
According to Wendy Williams, she found husband Hunter cheating in 2001, just after the birth of their son. She told Essence that when she was younger, she would have never stuck by a man who cheated on her. She stated:
If you told me when I was 25 years old or 30 years old that I would stay around for a cheater, I would have been like you are lying. I’ve got way too much to offer a man to stick around for him cheating on me. At that particular time, I had my career in radio, I was making a great salary, I had vacation property of my very own and the world was my oyster, so I definitely thought I wasn’t staying around for some cheating. But I did and I don’t regret it.
Williams’ advice for those who are cheated on and those who have cheated, she says that if you were never caught, take it to your grave, and if you’ve been cheated on, forgive and forget, whether you stay with the person or not. As far as how the cheating affected her relationship, she says it made it stronger, however she explains:
No I’m not back to the girl that I was before him because when you get stung like that you never go back to who you were, only a fool does. But I love him and he loves me.
Clearly, their relationship is in a much better place now. Williams even threw her husband a huge, luxurious surprise party on a yacht this past September 2014.
2. Williams’ Talent Booker Nicole Spence Accused Hunter of Sexual Harassment
It was reported that in 2008, Wendy Williams was sued over charges that her husband Hunter had sexually harassed a member of her staff. MTV reported:
In 2008, Nicole Spence, talent booker for The Wendy Williams Experience, filed papers with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission suing Williams. Spence claimed Williams’ husband, Kevin Hunter, demanded sex from Spence on many occasions and created a hostile work environment by threatening and assaulting his wife on company premises. On June 11, 2008, Spence filed a sexual-harassment lawsuit against Williams, Hunter, and Inner City Broadcasting Corporation in federal court in Manhattan.
News One reported that in addition to Spence being harassed by Hunter, Spence accused Williams herself of aiding in the problem.
The accuser, Nicole Spence, also claimed that Williams encouraged her to dress provocatively for Hunter and to go along with his alleged sexual propositions.
Hopefully, the physical attacks and sexual misconduct reports are untrue. Williams and Hunter have denied all the charges, thought the $5 million lawsuit was settled.
3. A Sex Tape Surfaced That Was Supposedly Hunter
In 2012, a sex tape came out on the internet of a man who was said to be Hunter and another woman who was clearly not Williams. Williams denied that the man in the video was her husband, as News One reports. This isn’t the latest cheating report though. Reality star Evelyn Lozada put Hunter on blast in March 2014, giving details on specific shoes Hunter supposedly bought his “mistress” from Lozada’s store in Miami. Check out the tweets above.
4. Williams’ Husband Is Also Her Manager
Like many, Williams mixes business with pleasure and Hunter doubles as her husband and manager. The two even launched a reality television company together called Wendy Williams Productions. It’s reported that it all began like this:
Williams was hired by a Philadelphia urban station, WUSL (“Power 99FM”). Her husband, Kevin Hunter, became her agent. She was very open about her personal life on air, discussing her miscarriages, breast enhancement surgery, and former drug addiction, and helped the station move from 14th place in the ratings to 2nd.
In 2009, Williams left the radio show to focus on television as well as more time with her husband and son. News One reports that while Williams is a strong TV personality, it’s actually her husband who runs the show. An insider reveals that Hunter makes all the decisions and News One writes:
Reportedly, Hunter has even gone as far as changing Williams’ cell number so that staff members could not have all-around access to her. “He’s also hired her a new driver, who reports to him,” said the unnamed person. All scripts must first be approved by Hunter, as well as all segment ideas and guest bookings. The source implied that Williams is pretty much powerless and Hunter is a control freak manipulator, one who is detested by many staffers on the show.
5. Hunter Is Not Williams’ First Husband
It was reported that Williams writes about her first husband with the pseudonym Robert Morris III in her book “Wendy’s Got the Heat.” She describes him as a salesperson, who she divorced after only four months of marriage.
