Rumer Willis, ‘Dancing With The Stars’: 5 Fast Facts You Need to Know

Rumer Willis has got a killer body, she’s single and she’s in it to win it on Dancing With The Stars season 20. With the support of her family as well as her pro dance partner and friend Val Chmerkovskiy, Willis’ determination is unlike any other contestant on the show. Read on for more details on the struggle behind the woman, the strong bond she shares with her family, her adventurous sisters, and her childhood in Idaho.

1. Both of Rumer’s Sisters Recently Posed In Provocative, Topless Photos With Miley Cyrus

Tallulah and Scout Willis recently appeared in some Instagram photos with superstar Miley Cyrus for photographer Mert Alas. It seemed to be quite the adventurous evening as Cyrus posted photo after photo in provocative poses. This isn’t the first time that a Willis has appeared topless. In May 2014, Scout walked around the streets of New York City topless during the day in order to protest Instagram’s strict no-nudity rule. To explain her actions, Scout wrote a blog on XO Jane and stated that:

Earlier last week I decided to do something kind of crazy. Instagram had recently deleted my account over what they called “instances of abuse.” Which in reality amounted to a photo of myself in a sheer top and a post of a jacket I made featuring a picture of two close friends topless … So I walked around New York topless and documented it on Twitter, pointing out that what is legal by New York state law is not allowed on Instagram … I am certainly not doing anything novel. A group here in New York called Topless Pulp gathers in parks to read topless regularly, and the Free The Nipple campaign has been protesting for the same rights for the last four years. If my coming from a high-profile family could help spread their message, so be it.

So, what did Rumer Willis think of her sister’s actions? According to Us Weekly, Rumer was very supportive, like any good sister.

2. Her Parents Have Gotten Back Together to Support Their Daughter On Dancing With The Stars

Demi Moore and Bruce Willis are back together, though not romantically, in order to show their love and support for their daughter on the show. Each week we see members of the Willis family on the show cheering on Rumer. And, Bruce and Demi even posed for a selfie with their three shared daughters on one of the nights (pictured above). While Demi Moore isn’t known to be currently dating anyone, Bruce is happily married to wife Emma Hemming, who can be seen cheering for Rumer next to her hubby in the DWTS ballroom. Hemming is a model and actress as well as a mother to daughters Mabel Ray and Evelyn Penn, who she shares with husband Willis.

3. Rumer’s Sister Scout Is More Excited About Dancing With The Stars Than Her Sister

Rumer Willis is loving the experience of being on Dancing With The Stars, but her sister Scout may be enjoying it even more. You can see Scout having a fun time with some of the DWTS cast members, including former pro dancer Maksim Chmerkovskiy, in the above Vine video.

Each week Scout sits in the ballroom and is her sister’s biggest cheerleader.

4. Over the Years, Rumer Has Been a Victim of Bullying

#tbt I look like I just did something really naughty

Rumer Willis recently opened up about her struggles with bullying over the years, believing that she was ugly and something was wrong with her. Her sister Tallulah had similar struggles and even went to rehab for it. Rumer explained that bullies would call her names like “potato head”, revealing to In Touch that:

My mom is a stunning woman, and everyone compared me to her. They said I looked like a man and called me ‘potato head.’ People were nasty. I was awkward. I didn’t feel comfortable with how I looked.

As she’s grown up, Willis says that people still say mean things about her, but she’s come to realize that you can’t please everyone and you should just be yourself.

5. Her Childhood Was Based In Idaho

Wanting to raise their children away from the spotlight, Demi Moore and Bruce Willis brought up their three daughters together primarily in Hailey, Idaho. Rumer Willis said she felt isolated growing up, which greatly bonded her with her two sisters. She also felt she had an easier time relating to adults rather than other kids. Being the child of two A-list celebrities wasn’t as easy as one would think. Willis told People:

I’ve traveled to some really incredible places, but my basic math skills are horrendous. It’s an interesting trade-off.

A big thing that Rumer Willis has had issues with over the years is that because of who her parents are, she was getting attention before her own work was getting its proper recognition. She was trying to be an individual and feels that Dancing With The Stars has really given her a platform to do so.
