The only daughter of the late legend Whitney Houston has passed away.
Bobbi Kristina Brown was Whitney Houston’s only child and daughter of Bobby Brown. A spokesperson for her family said in a statement to The Associated Press that she died on Sunday while surrounded by family.
“She is finally at peace in the arms of God. We want to again thank everyone for their tremendous amount of love and support during these last few months,” Kristen Foster, a representative for the Houston family said.
Bobbi Kristina Brown had been in hospice care in the Atlanta area. Her death comes about seven months after she was found unresponsive in the bathroom of her suburban Atlanta home. She never regained consciousness.
Here’s what you need to know.
1. Brown Was Put on a Ventilator & Declared Brain Dead
Nick Gordon and friend Max Lomas found Brown unresponsive in the bathtub of her Georgia home on January 31. Brown was ultimately put on a respirator and had very little brain activity as she was “fighting for her life”. Bobby Brown has had medical control over his daughter’s life and his lawyer has stated that they are investigating the events surrounding Bobbi Kristina Brown’s death.
She was originally considered to be married to Nick Gordon, who found her unresponsive in her bath tub, the same way her mother was found when she died. However, ABC has reported that Gordon and Brown are not legally married via father Bobby Brown’s attorney. Gordon was with a friend (Max Lomas) when they discovered Brown in the tub and the two immediately began CPR until the medics arrived. Read on for the sad facts on her death as well as Brown’s life before and after the passing of her mother.
Prior to Bobbi Kristina’s bath tub incident, police had visited her home on January 23, 2015 after a reported “fight” with Nick Gordon. Recently, a $40 million lawsuit was filed against Nick Gordon after the conservator (Bedelia Hargrove) of her estate said he had beat Bobbi Kristina and was taking her money. TMZ reported that the lawsuit claims Gordon was regularly transferring funds to his account from Bobbi Kristina’s.
It also stated he even transferred $11,000 after Bobbi Kristina was already in a coma. According to the documents filed, Gordon had beat Bobbi Kristina and knocked out one of her front teeth. She had reportedly scheduled to meet with a close friend and confide in them on January 31, 2015, but never made it there. TMZ states that Bobbi Kristina was, instead, found face down in her bathtub with a swollen mouth and another tooth knocked out. The documents imply that Nick Gordon was at fault.
Bobbi Kristina was moved into a hospice care facility on June 24, where she died.
2. She Spent Years Defending the Relationship She Had With Her ‘Husband’
Whitney Houston took in a young Nick Gordon as part of her family and later on, he and Bobbi Kristina Brown formed a loving relationship. Brown was faced ridicule and scrutiny from the public and had to defend her relationship with Gordon for years. Prior to Brown announced she married Gordon, she posted this message on her Facebook:
I’m tired of hearing people say, ‘Eww you’re engaged to your brother or if Whitney was still alive would we be together or would she approve of this.’ Let me clear up something. We aren’t even real brother and sister, nor is he my adoptive brother.
Entertainment Tonight reported:
Gordon was taken in by Houston when he was 12 years old after his biological mom declared that she could no longer care for him. Although Houston never legally adopted Gordon, she raised him like a son and he grew up alongside Bobbi Kristina, essentially as siblings. After Houston’s untimely passing, Nick and Bobbi Kristina turned to each other for comfort and soon began dating.
Christopher Brown, the attorney of Bobby Brown stated: To correct earlier reports, Bobbi Kristina is not and has never been married to Nick Gordon.
3. Bobbi Kristina Appeared on Two Reality Shows With Her Family
When Bobby Brown and Houston were married, they had their own relationship and we saw a young Bobbi Kristina Brown on the show. She would have endless shopping sprees and was living the life of a star’s daughter. 4. Her Death Echoes Her Own Mother’s Death
Whitney Houston died over three years ago after being found in a bathtub in a Beverly Hills, California, hotel on February 11, 2012 while events for the Grammy Awards were going on downstairs. It was devastating. NBC had reported:
Authorities examining Houston’s death found a dozen prescription drug bottles in the hotel suite. They concluded that she accidentally drowned. Heart disease and cocaine use were also listed as contributing factors in her death.
