‘Criminal Minds’ Season 11 Cast

'Criminal Minds' Season 11 Cast

Tonight is the premiere of season 11 for Criminal Minds and the episode is titled "The Job". The official synopsis is: The BAU searches for a serial killer who leaves distinctive marks on victims’ faces with the help of an impressive potential new team member, forensic psychologist Dr. Tara Lewis. Dr. Lewis is played by newcomer Aisha Tyler. Returning cast members include Joe Mantegna as David Rossi, Thomas Gibson as Aaron Hotchner, Shemar Moore as Derek Morgan, Matthew Gray Gubler as Dr. Spencer Reid, Kirsten Vangsness as Penelope Garcia and A.J. Cook as Jennifer "JJ" Jareau. Last season, the cast dealt with the departure of character Kate who decided to put family first and JJ revealed to Reid that she's expecting another baby. As far as Tyler's character Dr. Tara Lewis goes, she actually wears a wig for the part and tells TV Guide: I'm just too much of a wimp to cut my hair short in real life. I've always wanted to do it, but I'm too much of a puss, so this was an easy way to get a short haircut without having to commit to it. I love it because it's so fun. It takes me like five minutes to get my hair done. It's always styled. I also really wanted there to be a visual heart stop and a really easy way for people to see that Tara Lewis is different from me and any of my other dramatic roles. As for the kind of character Lewis is, Tyler describes her as this: She is definitely not one of those people who gets up in the morning and gets dressed up. She just goes. She's fun and she's funny and engaged and passionate, so I think she connects with the team in that way. She means business for sure. She has a really, really specific set of goals. It definitely fits her and you definitely understand who she is when you see that haircut.
