The album follows his successful second release, Beauty Behind The Madness and his debut Kiss Land. The reveal comes just after he wiped out all of his photos on his Instagram page and changed his bio to just read “Starboy.”
The Weeknd’s previous album, Beauty Behind The Madness brought him mainstream success with the hit singles “Can’t Feel My Face,” “The Hills,” “In The Night,” “Often” and “Acquainted.” The album also included “Earned It,” which earned him an Oscar nomination since it appeared in Fifty Shades of Grey.
NME reports that The Weeknd posted a 30-second audio clip on Instagram, teasing a collaboration with Cashmere Cat. However, the video – and all of The Weeknd’s other posts – have been deleted from his Instagram page. All that remains now is a post of the Starboy cover.
After Beauty Behind The Madness was released, The Weeknd appeared on Beyonce’s Lemonade and did a remix of Bryson Tiller’s “Rambo.” According to NME, a Republic Records executive said that he is working with Daft Punk. It turns out that their collaboration is the title track for Starboy.
A tracklist was circulating online, but The Weeknd retweeted a fan page that said it was fake.
The Weeknd also posted this image, with the caption, “I come alive in the fall time.”
