On April 10, Hough, 28, posted a “man crush Monday” photo of Laich, 33, on Instagram, saying that she simply couldn’t wait to marry him.
“Holy Mother of Hotness! This is MY man! But all sexiness aside, I am the luckiest girl in the world to have you by my side to do life together. Can’t wait to marry you,” she wrote.
Here is what you need to know:
1. Hough Wanted Her Wedding to be ‘Glamorous, but Timeless’
The newlyweds worked with event planner Troy Williams to make all of their wedding day dreams come true. The couple exchanged vows in front of 200 close family and friends. Hough wore a strapless custom Marchesa gown coupled with Lorraine Schwartz jewelry while the groom looked dapper in a tuxedo by Brooks Brothers, according to People Magazine.
“I don’t think I ever really necessarily dreamed about my wedding as a kid. But I know I will always cherish and remember it for the rest of my life,” Hough told People Magazine after saying “I do.”
“It was really important to me that we had our ceremony outdoors. Julianne and I are very adventurous and free and wanted the setting to be in nature,” Laich added.
Details about Hough and Laich’s wedding had been sparse, but Hough previously revealed that she and her husband wanted something relatively small.
“We both want small and intimate, but I come from a very large family so as small and intimate as it can get with my big family. We’ve been so blessed and so fortunate over the years that we’ve met so many incredible people in our life. We want to share it with them too,” Hough told Entertainment Tonight back in November 2016.
“I want my wedding to feel glamorous, but timeless. And I think it goes from head to toe with your hair, your makeup, your dress and what you smell like,” Hough told People Magazine. And while some brides go all out when it comes to tans, make-up, and hair extensions, Hough said that looking like herself was a priority.
2. Their Wedding Will Have a Lot of Dancing
The only thing that Hough has been open to talking about when it comes to her big day is that there will absolutely be a lot of dancing. The Dancing With the Stars judge said that Laich was interested in doing a choreographed first dance — and she suggested that he reach out to his future-brother-in-law for some pro lessons.
“It’s so funny because he really wants to do a first dance. And that’s more on him. Like, he wants to do it. I was like, ‘Of course I’ll help you and teach you and we can do some stuff. But why don’t you ask, like, Derek [Hough]. I mean, he’s a dancer. He’ll help you,'” Hough told People Magazine in December.
3. Hough & Laich Got Engaged in August 2015
The happy couple announced their engagement on Instagram on August 18, 2015. Hough posted a photo of her in Laich’s arm, the couple on a deck overlooking the water. It’s unknown exactly when the shot was snapped, but judging by Hough’s expression, it appears as though someone caught the moment just after Laich proposed.
Hough has a pretty big smile on her face and her left hand is out in front of her, emphasizing that there’s now a sparkly bauble on her ring finger.
A few weeks later, Hough blogged about the super-romantic proposal.
“It was magical and sweet. We were at home, romantic, and relaxed, which is perfectly very ‘us.’ We stood on the deck, watching the sun set over the lake and listening to our favorite songs. Not even for a second did I expect that beautiful, serene scene was about to become one of the most meaningful moments of our lives. In fact, I was so taken aback when Brooks got down on one knee I completely blacked out! It was like a rush of heat and a wave of uncontrollable emotion swept right through my body. I didn’t have any words at first (me! no words!). All I could do was explode into his arms and experience pure joy from head to toe,” she wrote.
Hough also shared some photos of her engagement ring. It’s an oval-cut solitaire diamond on a thin band. It appears to be well over four carats.
4. Hough & Laich Were Introduced by a Mutual Pal
“On set, apparently, [Sears] was talking with Julianne and then asked her if she’d been seeing anyone, and she said no or whatever. And I guess he was watching our hockey game on Game Center on his iPad. I guess he just showed her the iPad and said, ‘Well I’ve got a guy for you,’ or something,”Laich told The Fan, a radio station in D.C.
The two ended up meeting at a wedding reception a short time later — and they really hit it off.
“She’s a cool, cool gal. She’s just a sweetheart, very loving, very giving. She puts so much great out into the world. I’m a pretty lucky guy,” Laich added.
5. Hough & Laich Share a Wedding Date With ‘Dancing With the Stars’ Pros, Maks Chmerkovkiy & Peta Murgatroyd
Coincidentally, Hough and Laich are getting married on the same day as Hough’s Dancing With the Stars pals, Maks Chmerkovskiy and Peta Murgatroyd. While there had been some concern about other Dancing With the Stars cast members being forced to choose which wedding they were going to attend, Hough’s brother, Derek, didn’t seem the least bit concerned about a rift between the two weddings.
“We have different friends [and] different groups,” Hough told Entertainment Tonight last month.
Hough is very excited for his sister’s wedding.
“I’m excited! My baby sister [is] getting married [and] it’s gonna be special to have the whole family there. We’re gonna have a great time,” he said.
