Lawlor, Weidman meet in November
UFC officials announced the fight overnight.
Weidman, who has quickly become one of the division’s top prospects, debuted in the UFC this past March, earning a lopsided unanimous decision victory over Alessio Sakara. He followed up the win with another just three months later, defeating Jesse Bongfeldt via submission.
His upcoming opponent, Lawlor, is also coming off a dominant victory, defeating Patrick Cote back at UFC 123. The win snapped a two-fight losing streak, but the ever-entertaining fighter will be out of action for over a year when he finally steps foot back into the cage.
UFC 138 is expected for San Jose, California on November 19 and will feature a heavyweight main event between champion Cain Velasquez and top contender Junior dos Santos. Weidman vs. Lawlor is the only fight to have been made official for the card.
