David Jones Garcia: Breaking News

Jones Garcia underwent ankle surgery Wednesday and will miss the remainder of the 2025-26 season, Tom Orsborn of the San Antonio Express-News reports. Jones Garcia only managed to make 11 appearances for the Spurs in his introductory season, finishing with averages of 2.9 points and 1.6 assists per game. The 24-year-old rookie was on a one-year, two-way deal with the Spurs, so he'll be a free agent this summer.

Jones Garcia totaled 12 points (5-7 FG, 1-1 3Pt, 1-2 FT), five rebounds, six assists, one block and three steals in 19 minutes during Thursday's 135-126 victory over the Hawks. Jones Garcia isn't a regular in the Spurs' rotation, and Thursday's game was the first time he recorded double-digit minutes this season. Jones Garcia can put up decent numbers when given the chance, but due to his lack of involvement across the board, he shouldn't carry a lot of fantasy upside.

Jones Garcia scored 20 points (6-13 FG, 8-9 FT), five rebounds, four assists, one steal and two turnovers in 17 minutes off the bench during Friday's exhibition win over the Jazz. Jones Garcia had been quiet through the preseason thus far, but he got some extended run in this one with the game heading to overtime, and he made the most of the increased opportunity. However, he's on a two-way contract, meaning he'll spend most of his time with San Antonio's G League affiliate this season. He can safely be ignored in most leagues.
