For the second time in four years, Oklahoma has won the women’s softball national championship, this time defeating Auburn in a thrilling three-game series.

2016 Women’s College World Series Game 3 Preview

We’ve had plenty of drama jam-packed into the first two games of the series.

In Game 1, Auburn, trailing by three, scored two runs in the final frame and advanced a runner to third with only one out, but Oklahoma first baseman Shay Knighten handled a hard-hit ground-ball and fired home in time to secure the thrilling victory for the Sooners:

In Game 2, Oklahoma raced out to a 7-0 lead after two innings, but Auburn clawed their way back, and in the bottom of the eighth, Emily Carosone hit a walk-off grand slam to force a Game 3:

Now, just one game separates Oklahoma from its second softball national championship in four years, and Auburn from its first in school history.

If Game 3 turns out to be anywhere near as entertaining as either of the first two contests, we’re in store for an instant classic.
