The Cleveland Guardians are currently taking on the Colorado Rockies in a 3-game weekend set.
On Sunday, the Guards will be going for the sweep. Cleveland is 64-66 this season, which is good for 2nd place in the AL Central, and the Guardians are just 3.5 games back of the Chicago White Sox for first place, and even with the sub-.500 record, Cleveland still has AL Wild Card aspirations.
During their series with the Rockies, the Guardians quietly released a 26-year-old pitcher from their organization.

According to the Guardians transactions tracker, Jake Miller has been released from AAA Columbus.
MLB.com wrote (on 8/23): “Columbus Clippers released RHP Jake Miller.”
The 26-year-old pitcher has had a rough go of things at the AAA level this season.
In 2026, he holds an ERA of 7.35 across 49 innings pitched and 41 strikeouts.
Miller was drafted by Cleveland in the 20th round of the 2021 MLB draft and has spent his entire career within the organization.
His numbers had been pretty solid across all levels in the minors before this AAA stint. However, now that he’s released, Miller can sign with any MLB club.

Looking at Jake Miller’s Full Professional Career Thus Far
At 26-years-old, it’s plausible to think that Jake Miller should get another shot in professional baseball if he chooses to go down that path.
Here are his full MiLB stats: a pitching record of 14-11, 4.84 ERA, 118 total appearances (20 starts), five saves, 210.1 IP, 191 SO, and a career WHIP of 1.34.
His best season in the minors probably came in 2025 across the Guardians’ AA and AAA levels, where he posted an ERA of 2.86 over 66 innings pitched.
However, he could not follow up that success with production in 2026, which has led to his release.
