Carr's discussion of shoulder surgery may be related to dissatisfaction with the Saints and a desire to be released, according to Mike Triplett and Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football. Carr reportedly preferred to be released earlier this offseason, but the Saints instead did a simple contract restructure to shift more of his cap hit to future seasons without adding/removing money. It was then revealed last week that the 34-year-old QB is considering surgery for a previously unreported shoulder injury, and with a recovery timeline that could keep him out for the start of the 2025 season. It's hard to say exactly what's going on here, but it is clear that fantasy managers shouldn't assume Carr will be the Week 1 starter in New Orleans under new head coach Kellen Moore. The other options under contract are Spencer Rattler, Jake Haener and Ben DiNucci, which makes the Saints a top candidate to draft a QB on Day 1 or 2 next week.
Carr (shoulder/hand) is nursing a shoulder injury that may require surgery and could impact his availability for the 2025 season, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. Carr, who missed seven games in 2024 (including the Saints' final four contests) due to a left oblique injury and a fractured left hand, is now dealing with an injury that could significantly impact the Saints' coming season, as well as the team's decisions in April's draft. Further details regarding the veteran signal-caller's injury should be forthcoming, but Rapoport reports that surgery is among the options being considered by Carr and New Orleans. With only Spencer Rattler, Jake Haener and Ben DiNucci currently available behind Carr on the depth chart, the Saints figure to be increasingly motivated to explore remaining free agency options at quarterback, and the team's decision at No. 9 overall in the 2025 NFL Draft could now more realistically trend toward the position.
Radunz signed a one-year deal with the Saints on Monday. The 2021 second-round pick of the Titans spent his first four seasons with the team that drafted him, starting 26 of the 31 games he appeared in over the last two years. Radunz joins a potential guard rotation that includes incumbent starter Cesar Ruiz (69 starts in 75 career regular-season games) and a slew of less proven players in Nick Saldiveri (six career starts), Landon Young (12 career starts) and Kyle Hergel (no career starts).
Amadi re-signed with the Saints on a one-year deal Monday. The slot cornerback enjoyed his best season in 2024, recording career highs in tackles (65), solo tackles (52), sacks (2.0) and pass breakups (seven). Amadi got his chance in late October when Paulson Adebo went down with a season-ending broken femur, and he kept his spot the rest of the way. Adebo signed with the Giants earlier in March, so Amadi should at least get a chance to compete for a role with the Saints this summer.
The Saints are slated to sign Cooks, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports. Per Adam Schefter of ESPN, the wideout's reported deal is a two-year pact worth $13 million. Cooks, who joined the NFL as a 2014 first-round pick of the Saints, is thus poised to return to New Orleans, where he'll add speed and experience to a WR corps which is led by Chris Olave and also includes Rashid Shaheed. In 10 regular-season games with the Cowboys in 2024, Cooks recorded 26 catches for 259 yards and three touchdowns on 54 targets, but with his looming change of scenery, a bounce-back campaign could be in order for the 31-year-old, with a path to steady snaps seemingly on tap for him in 2025.
Wilson has reworked his contract with the Saints, reducing his 2015 base salary from $3.4 million to $1.17 million, Katherine Terrell of ESPN.com reports. The new salary is league minimum for a player with Wilson's service time. This improves his chances of earning a roster spot, and the contract is still scheduled to void after the 2025 season. The 29-year-old played 15 regular-season games for the Saints in 2024, catching 20 of 27 targets for 211 yards and one touchdown while mostly serving as the team's third or fourth wide receiver. Wilson's role in 2025, or lack thereof, will partially depend on the health of Chris Olave (head) and Rashid Shaheed (knee).
Jones signed a contract with the Saints on Saturday, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports. Jones played three regular-season games (two with the Bears, one with the Panthers) in 2024 and logged two carries for 11 yards and one catch for eight yards over that span. He's got an outside shot at consistent reps out of the Saints' backfield, but he could earn a spot on the 53-man roster for 2025 as a return specialist.
