Lindsey Vonn is one of the most decorated alpine skiers in history — and as she prepares for a comeback at the 2026 Winter Olympics, fans are also revisiting her high-profile love life. Here’s what you need to know.
February 8, 2026 Update:
Vonn’s bid for an against-all-odds Olympic medal ended Sunday after she suffered a broken left leg in a crash just 13.4 seconds into the downhill final.
Competing in a brace only nine days after rupturing the ACL in her left knee, Vonn did not finish the race at the Milan Cortina Winter Olympics. She had been attempting to become the oldest Alpine skier, male or female, to win an Olympic medal.
Vonn tapped her poles together three times before leaving the start gate. Moments later, before reaching the first timing marker, she lost control and crashed, tumbling down the course and striking her head before coming to a stop. Cries of pain were audible on the broadcast.
Medical personnel reached Vonn within minutes and secured her onto a stretcher. She was placed into a protective red medical bag and airlifted off the course for further evaluation.
1. Lindsey Vonn Is Making an Olympic Comeback After Major Surgery
Vonn stepped away from competitive skiing in 2019, but announced in November 2024 that she was returning with her sights set on Milan Cortina.
The 41-year-old cited her deep connection to Cortina d’Ampezzo, where she’s earned 12 World Cup victories, as motivation. She quickly proved she still had it, winning twice this season and landing on the podium in seven of eight races.
Then came another setback. Just days before the Opening Ceremony, Vonn crashed in Crans Montana, Switzerland, later revealing she “completely ruptured” her ACL, according to NBC’s official Winter Olympics site. Despite the injury, she confirmed she plans to race in the women’s downhill on Feb. 8.
Since her most recent breakup, Vonn appears fully focused on recovery and competition.
2. Vonn’s Most Famous Relationship Was With Tiger Woods
Vonn began dating Tiger Woods in 2013 after meeting him at a charity event. Their relationship lasted nearly three years and played out under an intense spotlight.
“I mean … I was in love,” Vonn told CNN in 2018. “I loved him and we’re still friends.”
“I had an amazing three years with him, but sometimes things just don’t work out.”
Her sister Karin Kildow acknowledged how difficult the public split was, saying, “It’s hard enough to break up with a boyfriend without having to issue a press release about it.”
They officially separated in spring 2015.
3. Lindsey Vonn Got Engaged to P.K. Subban
By March 2017, Vonn had moved on with P.K. Subban after meeting him at the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards.
The pair dated for more than two years, announced their engagement in August 2019, and called it quits in December 2020.
“Over the past 3 years, P.K. and I have had some incredible times together,” Vonn wrote on Instagram. “He is a kind, good man and someone I respect a great deal.”
Subban echoed the sentiment, posting, “Lindsey is one of the most kind and caring people I know. I will always treasure our time as a couple together.”
4. Vonn Was Previously Married to Fellow Skier Thomas Vonn
Before her headline-making romances, Vonn married fellow skier Thomas Vonn in 2007. The two competed in the 2002 Winter Olympics and divorced in 2013.
“I probably shouldn’t have gotten married so young, but I won’t say I regret it,” she told Sports Illustrated.
She also explained why she kept his last name: “People come to races to see Lindsey Vonn. It’s my stage name.”
5. Her Most Recent Split Was With Diego Osorio
Vonn most recently dated Diego Osorio, whom she met through mutual friends in 2021.
She confirmed their breakup to People in February 2025, saying, “Valentine’s Day will look a little different for me this year. But I have my two dogs, so they’ll be my Valentine’s dates.”
Since then, Vonn appears focused on training as Alpine skiing coverage begins Feb. 7 across NBC platforms.
For now, her priority is clear: finishing one of the most remarkable comeback stories in Olympic sports.
