’24: Live Another Day’ Series Premiere Spoilers

Tonight is the series premiere of 24: Live Another Day and we’ve got all the information, video clips, and spoilers we could find for Jack Bauer’s return.

USA Today gives us the “dark” rundown the first new show:

Welcome to what may be the show’s darkest day. Jack is a fugitive, captured with ease in London by an American team led by Steve Navarro (Benjamin Bratt). Only one agent, the recently disgraced Kate Morgan (Yvonne Strahovski), thinks Jack must be up to something, but as usual with a show that has always loved its Cassandra figures, she’s ignored.

– According to 24Spoilers.com, the info on episode 3 is:

Kate Morgan (Yvonne Strahovski) continues her hunt for Jack, as President Heller (William Devane) prepares to address Parliament after a devastating attack. Margot Al-Harazi (guest star Michelle Fairley) proves she is willing to sacrifice anything for revenge.

The plot for episode 4, airing May 19th is:

The terror threat escalates as Jack heads for the U.S. Embassy with the CIA closing in on him. Meanwhile, Margot asserts her authority with unthinkable force; President Heller makes an impassioned speech to Parliament; and Kate takes matters into her own hands.

And, episode 5’s plot is:

An unlikely duo joins forces to forestall an impending attack. The terrorist reveals her demands. The President orders a military lockdown, but it may be too late.

– Jack has an agenda, according to USA Today.

It involves drones and former Secretary of Defense (and now President) James Heller (William Devane), who is in London to negotiate a new treaty with the British Prime Minister (the great Stephen Fry). Heller is accompanied by his daughter Audrey (Kim Raver), whose affair with Jack had once left her comatose, and Heller’s chief of staff Mark Boudreau (Tate Donovan), who is now married to Audrey.

– Chloe is back as well, but with a couple changes.

We also get to revisit with Chloe (Mary Lynn Rajskub), who has joined a Wikileaks-type hacker organization, the better to express her disenchantment with the folks who used to employ her. Her goth redo does seem a bit misguided, but underneath, she’s still Chloe.

– In a press release posted on 24Spoilers.com, a run-down for episode 3 is provided:

As the hunt continues for Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland), the terror threat is intensifying, much to the chagrin of the CIA and Kate Morgan (Yvonne Strahovski). Across town, President James Heller (William Devane) prepares to address Parliament in an attempt to heal recent wounds with the British, and to preserve his legacy. Meanwhile, Margot (guest star Michelle Fairley) – a homegrown British terrorist seeking to avenge her husband’s death – proves she is willing to make any sacrifice for her mission in the all-new 24: LIVE ANOTHER DAY episode “Day 9: 1:00 PM-2:00 PM” on Monday, May 12 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. (TWF-903) (TV-14 L, V)

– More information on Chloe is provided by TV Guide:

It’s not just Chloe’s work with a WikiLeaks-like organization called Red Sect that causes the personal transformation. “She’s also suffered a personal tragedy,” Mary Lynn Rajskub teases. “She’s in a lot of pain and [is] angry, and that’s reflected in her look.” But Chloe has also undergone an emotional makeover … She might not be so eager to be Jack Bauer’s right-hand girl. “When she realizes what he wants from her, she’s very angry,” Rajskub says. “They don’t see eye-to-eye. She’s questioning him more than she has, and for the first time, she has words with him.”

– When The Mirror gave up the details on episode 1, they wrote some of what we’ve already heard in addition to some new information.

So, what brings our hero out of exile-induced retirement? A death threat against US President James Heller (William Devane) – who is in the capital on a visit to see Prime Minister Alastair Davies (Stephen Fry) – and the twisted machinations of Margot Al-Harazi (played wonderfully by Game of Thrones’s star Michelle Fairley), the vengeful wife of a notorious terrorist and this series’ main adversary.

The Mirror added:

You can count on the CIA to get their wires crossed and, in this explosive double bill, Steve Navarro (Benjamin Bratt, Law & Order) orders his team, including agent Kate Morgan (Yvonne Strahovski, Chuck), to bring Jack in for questioning.

– As for the characters returning, aside from Jack Bauer, The Mirror writes:

Kim Raver’s Audrey is back and now married to her dad’s chief of staff, Mark Boudreau (Tate Donovan, Damages) while the irrepressible former CTU staple-turned-government-hating hacktivist Chloe (Mary Lynn Rajskub) has gone rogue and will return to the series.

TV Line talks about “who’s the boss” in the new 12-episode series:

James Heller (played by William Devane) is now the leader of the free world — and his daughter Audrey (Kim Raver) has a role in his administration. EP Evan Katz reminds, “When we last left Audrey, she was in a very bad place regarding Jack, so [in the years that have passed] she has come out of the ‘wilderness’ that she’s been in mentally, emotionally and spiritually. But the interesting thing will be, when Jack reenters the picture, how will she react to that?”
