In the 1970s, Williams transitioned from a preacher in Oakland, California to a music artist. His music style was R&B as well as Soul. Williams originally hails from Little Rock, Arkansas and also plays the trumpet.

2. He Is Most Known for the Song “Cause I Love You”

Williams’ biggest hit is reported to be the song “Cause I Love You” off his album “Spark of Love.” It was released in 1978. He was also known for his 1977 song “Choosing You”.

3. Williams Was Part of the Group Tower of Power

In addition to having a solo career, Williams was also a part of the music group Tower of Power. He also worked with artists including Sly Stone, Andrae Crouch, Kenny G., Billy Preston and several members of the Hawkins family. Williams was in the group for two years and released hit songs including “So Very Hard to Go” and “What Is Hip”, along with three albums.

Williams tries to keep the focus of his music on love, explaining on his professional website:

Love is what has gotten me through all of these years. I look for love and I surround myself with it.

He says that he tries to bring listeners to the heart of love because love is something that will never go out of style.

5. He Has His Own Label

Currently, Williams has his own record label, LenTom Entertainment. On his website, he writes:

I’m going to continue to evolve and grow as I learn and experiment lyrically and musically. I’ve been doing this for a long time now and I’ve been watching all of the changes going on in the music business. I have my own label now (LenTom Entertainment). Let me do my thing.

In 2004 and 2005, Williams and Kanye West were recipients of the BMI Songwriter’s Award for the song “Over Night Celebrity”, featured in the above audio video.
