According to TMZ, Blac Youngsta (whose real name is Sammie Marquez Benson) was wanted in connection with the shooting, which took place in late February. Blac Youngsta was taken into custody on weapons charges that were directly related to that shooting, according to XXL Magazine.
At the time, the Charlotte Observer reported that nearly 100 shots were fired along the 600 block of North Caldwell Street around 6:30 p.m., about 30 minutes before the men’s championship game of the CIAA. There were no injuries reported.
According to XXL, Young Dolph was one of the intended targets in the Charlotte-area shooting.
“Video footage of the aftermath shows a black SUV in the middle of the street, which is identified as Dolph’s. According to one witness, the vehicle had just pulled out of the lot, when another truck pulled up and starting spraying the SUV with bullets. Luckily, for those in the SUV, the ride was reportedly outfitted with bullet-proof metal,” reported XXL.
Later that night, Dolph performed at an unofficial CIAA-related party along with Migos and 21 Savage.
“I got no clue. I really don’t even give a damn. Like, to tell you the honest truth. I really don’t give a damn. I come from the streets. I come from, like, this shit been happening. I been having haters, I’ve been having, I’ve been a target, know what I’m saying, to people that I intimidate, know what I’m saying? So, only thing that I can do is take this shit and keep going, know what I’m saying? And what I don’ figured out is like, the more I live, the bigger and greater I’ma get just because the person that I am, know what I’m saying? So that mean, the haters and the negativity, that shit gonna get bigger too, you know what I mean? But, at the end of the day, man, I’m good,” Dolph told XXL back in March, when asked who he thought might want him dead.
It was previously reported that Dolph had spent hundreds of thousands of dollars on metal that would make his SUV bulletproof. According to TMZ, two of his vehicles are bulletproof. The rapper has said that the more money he makes, the more threats he receives. The money that he spent to bulletproof his SUV could have saved his life and the lives of other people in the vehicle at the time of the shooting.
