Vogue Williams is a 30-year-old model who is currently dating Spencer Matthews, the brother of James Matthews, Pippa Middleton’s husband. Williams was born in Dublin, Ireland. She has appeared on several popular reality television shows in the UK and has also been a presenter on various television programs.
Williams is the youngest child of three; she has an older sister named Amber and an older brother named Frederick. Their mom, Sandra, split from their father, Freddie, and remarried a man named Neil Wilson, whom Williams is close to. She refers to Wilson as a “third parent.”
She holds two college degrees; one in Construction Design and Management and another in Quantitative Surveying.
Williams did not attend Middleton and Matthews’ wedding on May 20, even though her boyfriend is his brother’s best man.
Here is what you need to know:
1. She Has Been Dating Matthews for a Few Months
Williams and Matthews went public with their romance in March 2017, but many suspected the two were dating as early as last fall. The two flirted a bit while they were filming The Jump together in Austria, and rumors about a romance began to swirl. Williams was asked about the rumors during an interview with Fearne Cotton in March.
“There is maybe a little bit of truth in the matter. You weren’t expecting that answer! We were really close friends, we’re just really close, really close friends and yeah, we’ve been getting on very well,” Williams said. Check out part of the interview in the video below.
Matthews often posts sexy snaps of his girlfriend on social media. Recently, he compared Williams to supermodel Cindy Crawford. Check out the post below.
In recent weeks, the two have been accused of faking their romance, but that’s something Williams adamantly denies.
“I’ve never understood how people could have a showmance because it’s really hard to fake something like that. I wouldn’t be able to and I wouldn’t do it to my family either. It’s telling lies. Obviously Spencer has a reputation and people are waiting to catch him out,” she told the Daily Mail.
Just last week, Matthews and Williams enjoyed some down time together, vacationing in Spain. They shared some of their vacation pictures on Instagram. You can check some of them out below.
2. She Is a Reality Television Star, Amongst Other Things
Ms. Williams has quite the resume. Not only has she done fairly extensive modeling work — most recently for Virginia Macari Beachwear Couture and Lipsy London lingerie — but she has also starred in a number of reality television shows over the past five years or so.
When she first started out, she appeared on Fade Street, a show in the UK that is said to be equivalent to MTV’s The Hills in the U.S. The show followed her journey as she worked for Stellar Magazine and tried to make a name for herself in the entertainment business.
Since that time, Williams has been on several UK reality television shows including Dancing With the Stars in 2012. She and her dance partner, Christopher Page, were the third couple eliminated that season.
In 2013, she landed a radio gig on SPIN 1038 in Dublin.
She has always had an ear for rhythm and music and has quite an impressive DJ history.
“A keen DJ, she has worked at some of the biggest festivals in Europe within the last three years, such as Oxygen Festival (Ireland’s Future Music) alongside Steve Aoki and Europe’s biggest private party ‘The Trinity Ball.’ She has DJ’d for brands such as Topshop, H&M, Lipsy, Space NK and Littlewoods,” Money Management UK reports.
Williams was also in Stepping Out with her now-ex-husband, Brian McFadden, in 2013. The two finished in second place.
In 2015, Williams won Bear Grylls: Mission Survive. As mentioned earlier in this post, Williams also appeared on The Jump alongside Spencer Matthews. She was forced to leave the show after suffering a gnarly knee injury.
Williams had her own 4-part series called Vogue Williams – On the Edge. On the show, Williams investigated “issues affecting the lives of her fellow Millennials; a generation born into cheap on-line synthetic drugs, an obsessive reverence for ‘the body beautiful’ and a sharp rise in body dysmorphia, gender dysphoria and social anxiety Issues.”
3. She Suffered a Knee Injury While Skiing on ‘The Jump’
Williams was filming The Jump when she ruptured her knee, forcing her to exit the show early. She posted about her injury on her blog for Hello Magazine.
“Unfortunately for me on Wednesday I had an accident on the slopes. It was just such a pity and I’m devastated to say that I’m now out of the show. I’ve ruptured my ACL in my knee so I’m going to be out of action for about three months. I was practicing my ski cross and had a fall. I’m really hoping that the show comes back next year because I would jump at the chance of being on it again. I wouldn’t swop the last couple of months for anything because I’ve honestly had the best time… The first live show is tonight so be sure to tune in, my mom, sister auntie and sisters girlfriend had all booked flights out to support me OOPS! I’m pretty disappointed that they won’t get to see me compete but we’ll have such a laugh at the live show,” she wrote.
She underwent an operation and spent four days in the hospital recovering.
“Last week was difficult. I was in hospital for four days with my leg. I had some of my hamstring taken out and put into my knee, but I had extra bleeding on my leg. I wasn’t expecting that – I was going to go back to work the day after, but plans changed and I had to take the week off, recovering on the couch. I’ve never had an operation so everything hit me a bit harder – I wasn’t expecting to feel the way I felt. I just couldn’t really hack all the painkillers I was on and felt really weak and dizzy so they wanted to keep me in until I was feeling better. It’s so bruised at the moment. That’s the last of the operations and I’m doing five physio (sic) sessions a week, two hours a day,” she told The Sun.
Since her surgery, Williams has posted plenty of workout videos on Instagram. She continues to work on strengthening her leg muscles and can’t wait to get back to the slopes.
4. Her Father Passed Away After Suffering a Stroke
Six years ago, Williams’ father, Freddie, died at the age of 68, after suffering a stroke. Her grandfather, also named Freddie, passed away from a stroke when she was just a child. One of her uncles on her father’s side also suffered a stroke and, in 2015, one of her male cousins survived a stroke.
Over the years, Williams has become very aware of the risks of a stroke and has familiarized herself with what to watch for, since these “brain attacks” run in her family.
“You can be super healthy and still have a stroke. Because we have history of stroke on both sides of my family, I have always been health conscious. I need to be careful with fitness and stress. Having seen what happened to my father and grandfather has made me very aware of the importance of exercise and eating well. After his first stroke my grandad never spoke again. I think that drove him mad. It was awful. I don’t think my father could have handled being like that, he loved a good chat. When he had a stroke it killed him and I think that was meant to be,” Williams said, according to Express UK.
In 2015, she supported the Stroke Association’s Life After Stroke Awards.
5. She Was Previously Married to Brian McFadden of Westlife Fame
The couple announced their engagement on January 12, 2012. Eight months later, they said their “I do’s” in a lavish wedding ceremony at a castle in Tuscany, Italy, where McFadden’s two daughters Molly, 11, and Lilly, 9, (their mother is Kerry Ketona) were junior bridesmaids.
The couple chose the destination because they wanted something more intimate. They also thought it was a good halfway point between Williams’ hometown in Ireland, and Australia, where they had been living.
This was the second marriage for McFadden, who stressed that he was too young the first time around.
“This is me getting married for the rest of my life – and a completely different life. I was 18 or 19 when I got married the first time. I was in Westlife. I had no idea what I was doing. It wasn’t till I was 30 that I turned into an adult,” McFadden said in 2012.
Last summer, Williams made headlines in the UK when she revealed that she and McFadden had sex on their first date.
“Me and Brian did hanky panky on the first date and we ended up getting married. I’m not saying I’d do that on every first date but it worked out for a while. It just depends on the situation,” she said on an episode of Loose Women.
Williams and McFadden split amicably in 2015. While it’s unclear exactly what ended their marriage, Williams was very upset following the divorce and expressed such.
“My head’s all over the place. I feel like I don’t have a goal. Everything that I wanted is sort of gone. I wanted to be married and I wanted to have kids for so long and now that’s sort of gone, and I’m like, ‘What do I do now?’ I’m trying to figure out where I’m going with my life and that causes a lot of anxiety,” she said at the time.
Over the past year or so, Williams has talked about working on being friends with her ex.
“We’re working on being really good friends. And it is work. It’s not like me and Brian have never had a fight. It was really hard and nothing was as easy as it seemed, us just going out and being friends. But we’ve made it happen. And maybe it’s easier because neither of us has moved on yet, but we’re really working on being friends,” she told the Independent last year.
