Multiple media outlets are reporting that the woman recorded getting close with Kevin Hart is a popular Miami based singer named Monique Gonzalez aka Momo. Radar Online released the video of the two in Lexus on July 19. The video had allegedly been taken in the early hours of July 18. A source told Radar, “It’s obvious they were up to no good.” That same source spoke about the two’s behavior earlier in the night while at a party saying, “She kept looking over her shoulder and Kevin was pop-eyed when another guest walked by.” The video does not show Hart and Monique kissing or embracing in any way.
Here’s what you need to know about Monique:
1. Monique’s Career Is on the Rise & She Recently Recorded a Song With Pitbull
The launch pad for Monique’s music career appears to have been an appearance as the star of Austin Mahone’s “MMM Yeah” video. That song featured Pitbull and garnered 87 million views on YouTube.
In 2015, Monique was invited to perform the female remix of the song, “El Perdon (How Can I).” Monique talked about the song in an interview with the Huffington Post saying:
I am receiving an abundance of supportive, uplifting responses from my female fans, especially the younger ones!
They not only relate to the storyline but embrace the message of being a strong woman. As a female, I want to make sure my music inspires women to be all we can be.
Monique’s other well-known tracks are “Si Tu Boquita” and “Lost In You.”
This past June, Monique appeared with Rick Ross and Fetty Wap at the Urban Latin Music Fest at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. You can listen to more of Monique’s music on her Sound Cloud page here.
2. Monique Is Apparently Saying that the Media Is ‘Making Something Out of Nothing’
Power96 in Miami spoke to a friend of Monique’s in the wake of the Radar story. That friend, Lucy Lopez, asked Monique is she was okay to which the singer replied, “Yeah boo, when they make something out of nothing you just gotta laugh – I know who I am and my truth.”
Lopez went on to talk about her interaction with Monique saying, “I’m sure everyone wants to jump on the “Momo is a Hoe Hoe” train, but NO. This is NOT fair to a woman who’s been working her tail off to make a name for herself in the music industry. A video that clearly shows NOTHING was going on is being paraded around like it’s proof KH cheated on his beautiful wife. This my friends is what my boss Rob Morris would call: A NOTHING BURGER!”
3. Monique Describes Herself as Being ‘Unapologetically Latina’
On her official website, Monique describes herself as being “unapologetically Latina.” Monique adds that she is “a Miami-born songstress, dancer, and actress is not one designed to fit in the proverbial box. In fact, she redefines boundaries, rules, and containing beliefs consistently.”
Monique was raised in the Cutler Ridge community south of Miami in a Cuban household. She described the impact music had on her life in an interview with Huffington Post saying:
Growing up in a Cuban household, music is a religion. There was never a day music wasn’t playing and we weren’t dancing and singing.
The playlist was extensive; we would listen to everything from salsa, boleros, bachata, merengue, flamenco to Selena, Whitney Houston, Celine Dion, Beyoncé, Backstreet Boys.
4. Monique Says if Her Personality Were a Lipstick Brand it Would Be Called ‘Dynamite’
In August 2016, Monique was picked out by Style Blazer as an up-and-coming style icon. Interestingly, Monique said if she had a lipstick brand it would be called “Dynamite.” Despite her love of make-up, Monique says, “There’s nothing sexier than a woman who embraces her own skin.”
5. Hart, Who Was Accused of Cheating on His First Wife, Saying ‘You Just Gotta Laugh at the BS’
In response to the apparent scandal, Kevin Hart posted a meme saying, “You just gotta laugh at the BS.” At the time the video was taken, Hart’s wife, Eniko Parrish, was at home, pregnant with the couple’s first child. Parrish posted a selfie showing her baby bump in the midst of the furor of the Radar Online video.
Hart married his first wife, Torrei, in 2003, the couple has three children together. The split in 2011. When Hart and Parrish’s relationship became public, Torrei said in an interview that Hart had cheated during their marriage. Torrei told Entertainment Tonight:
It does hurt that my kids have to be around a woman who broke up a marriage. When you have your kids saying, ‘Mommy, what happened?’ I never lashed out.
I never tried to punch her in the face, even though I’ve had moments where—trust and believe—I wanted to K.O. her ass.
Hart later refuted those allegations in a series of tweets.
