‘The Masked Singer’ Season 3 Episode 13 Recap
After Gordon Ramsay was revealed as the episode’s celebrity guest panelist, it was time for the final 6 to perform.
The Kitty was the first performer of the night. She sang “Diamonds Are a Girl’s Best Friend” and presented guest panelist Ramsay with a chocolate layered cake as her bonus clue. The judges guessed she might be Charlotte Church, Lea Michele, or Eva Longoria.
The Rhino followed Kitty’s solid performance with a cover of Thomas Rhett’s “Die a Happy Man.” For his “Masked Munchies” clues, the Rhino presented Ramsay with a bowl of cheese, spaghetti, and meatballs. The celebrity panelists thought he might be Jeff Bridges, Charles Kelley from Lady Antebellum, or Barry Zito.
The Turtle stunned the judges and audience with a solo performance of “Whatever It Takes” by Imagine Dragons (he even masterfully delivered the song’s rap verses). His food-themed clue was a catfish dish “from the South.” Gordon Ramsay guessed that the Frog might be Lil Jon, Robin Thicke guessed Bow Wow, and Nicole Scherzinger guessed Omarion.
For the Night Angel‘s “final six” clue package, “free your mind” was a key phrase that stood out to the judges. She sang “Black Velvet” by Alannah Myles and got a standing ovation from the panelists – Jenny McCarthy deemed it the best performance of Masked Singer “ever.” After Nick Cannon tasted one of the Night Angel’s crickets on a stick, the panelists thought that based on the clues and performance, she could be Chili from TLC, Kandi Burruss, or Dawn Robinson.
The Astronaut sang “Story of My Life” by One Direction; for his special dish, he presented a Mardi Gras king cake. After his crowd-pleasing performance, the panelists wondered if he might be Jonathan Groff, Skylar Astin, or Jonathan Taylor Thomas.
Last to perform was the Turtle. He chose to sing “Stay” by Alessia Cara. The panelists guessed he could be Adam Lambert, Gavin DeGraw, or One Direction’s Zayn Malik.
After a great night of performances, the Astronaut was voted out of the competition.
The Astronaut Was Eliminated, Revealing…
… Hunter Hayes!
Hayes told Nick Cannon that competing on The Masked Singer was “out of this world. It’s been an unbelievable experience.” He said the show was a great opportunity to try things he’s scared of, including choreographed dancing.
Before the Astronaut unmasked himself, Jenny McCarthy guessed television, film and Broadway star Ben Platt, Robin Thicke and Gordon Ramsay guessed Jonathan Taylor Thomas, Nicole Scherzinger guessed country music star Hunter Hayes, and Ken Jeong guessed Pitch Perfect‘s Skylar Astin. Scherzinger was the only one who guessed correctly (although fans on Twitter predicted Hayes from the start).
