Adrián Martínez: Everything you need to know

The Athletics released Martinez on Monday. Martinez opened the season on Oakland's 40-man roster, but he was designated for assignment March 31 and remained in the organization upon clearing waivers. The right-hander proceeded to turn in an 11.05 ERA and 2.36 WHIP over 22 innings with Triple-A Las Vegas before the Athletics elected to part ways with him. Martinez will look to catch on with another organization on a minor-league deal.

Martinez was sent outright to Triple-A Las Vegas on Wednesday. Martinez lost his spot on the Athletics' 40-man roster after surrendering four earned runs over 1.1 innings across two appearances during spring training, and he will officially remain in Oakland's farm system after clearing waivers. The 27-year-old right-hander owns a 5.51 ERA and 1.47 WHIP across 112.2 career innings in the majors, and he has a poor history in Triple-A as well.

The Athletics designated Martinez for assignment on Sunday. Martinez was reassigned from minor-league camp in early March and has now lost his place on Oakland's 40-man roster. The right-hander pitched in 22 games for the A's last season and posted a 4.75 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 47:19 K:BB across 55 innings.
