Cut from big-league camp

The Athletics reassigned Hartlieb to minor-league camp Monday. Hartlieb had been attending big-league camp as a non-roster invitee, but any hope he had of being part of the Athletics' Opening Day bullpen ended after he allowed eight runs (seven earned) over 2.1 innings across four Cactus League appearances. The 32-year-old is likely to serve as organizational relief depth at the Triple-A level throughout the 2026 season.

Latches on with Athletics

The Athletics signed Hartlieb to a minor-league contract Wednesday. Hartlieb was torched for eight runs over 3.1 innings during his brief time in the majors in 2025, but he boasted a 62:17 K:BB over 53.1 frames at the Triple-A level. The right-handed reliever will likely begin the 2026 campaign in the bullpen at Triple-A Las Vegas.

Catches on with K.C.

Hartlieb signed a minor-league contract with the Royals on Wednesday. After being released from his minor-league deal with Detroit last week, Hartlieb quickly caught on with a new organization, his third stop of the season. Hartlieb previously made four appearances in the big leagues this season between the Yankees and Tigers, giving up eight earned runs over 3.1 innings.
