In political news from the Hill today, Florida Republican Rep. Trey Radel has taken to Twitter to live-tweet his impression of the new Jay-Z album. Radel, who BuzzFeed called the “beat-mixing, gangsta rap-loving Tea Party congressman” began writing his 140 character mini-reviews on his way back to Washington, D.C.

What do you think of his take on Jay Z’s Magna Carta Holy Grail?

Rolling Stone gave Jay-Z’s Magna Carta . . . Holy Grail a 3/5 rating, wondering whether Jay-Z has “checked out.”

In part, he’s the victim of his own remarkable longevity and extraordinary success. Jay-Z has been telling us about himself since 1996. He retired, then unretired, and that was four albums ago. Maybe he’s starting to run out of things to say – or maybe, absent a foil like Kanye West on 2011’s superb Watch the Throne or Kendrick Lamar on this year’s “Bitch, Don’t Kill My Vibe” remix, he can’t find the energy to push himself creatively. also published a similar review, rating the album at a 6.2/10. At one point they just start making fun of Hova’s lyrics.

Beyoncé chimes in: “Cliché / Cliché / Cliché / Cliché.” At least he’s making love on a million now, as opposed to planking on it.
