There could be lots of movement in the table this week, but the Foxes of Leicester City improbably remain on top. Leicester is five points clear heading into the weekend, but have a tough matchup away at Arsenal on Sunday. Arsene Wenger’s came away 5-2 winners in the first meeting, and haven’t lost to Leicester in over 15 meetings.
Even if Arsenal complete the season sweep, the Gunners are still even with Tottenham in the table. Spurs have won six straight in all competitions, but face off against the league’s best home side in Manchester City this weekend. City has struggled against top-tier competition this season, but could get a huge boost if Vincent Kompany returns to action.
Chelsea are still fighting mid-table, but have gone unbeaten in eleven games under interim manager Guus Hiddink. That streak hasn’t included any wins at Stamford Bridge, however, and Chelsea will be looking to rectify that against struggling Newcastle.
Aside from Spurs, the best form in the league belongs to Southampton. The Saints have won four of five league matches, rising from 13th all the way to seventh in the table. At 37 points, Southampton is inching closer to West Ham (39) and Manchester United (41) for a top-six finish and place in next year’s Europa League.
