Today marks the first of the two biggest games in the Jurgen Klopp era at Anfield, as Liverpool host Augsburg for a chance at the Europa League last 16. Liverpool had the weekend off during FA Cup action, but are three days away from Klopp’s first League Cup final appearance against Manchester City. Liverpool have been beaten at this stage of the competition in their last two Europa League appearances, losing on penalties last year to Besiktas.
The Reds couldn’t generate many chances in the first leg at WWK Arena. Augburg’s closest chance came late when Dong-Won Ji hit the post, but they will find it even more challenging with Raul Bobadilla sidelined. The Paraguay international suffered a thigh injury in the first leg and will be unable to play today. But with a clean sheet in the first leg, the Bundesliga club can advance to their-first ever European last 16 with a score draw.
