Elise Pollard and Detroit Lions wide receiver Golden Tate are now married. The two tied the knot in Mexico this month. But rather than find themselves getting congratulatory messages from fans, they have been criticized because they went to a charity golf event hosted at the Trump National golf course in Miami last year.

A picture Pollard posted on her Instagram page, back in June 2016, shows her and Tate at the Trump National Doral Miami golf course and wearing the “Make America Great Again” hats that have become so ubiquitous with Trump.

Here’s a look at Pollard and their relationship.

1. Pollard Works at Harvey Nash in Los Angeles

According to her LinkedIn bio, Pollard is a director of business development at Harvey Nash. She’s been working for the IT recruitment firm since 2010. She worked at their Seattle office while Tate was playing there for the Seahawks.

While in college, the 28-year-old Pollard interned for Coscto and Alaska Airlines. She has a degree in Marketing and Sales from the University of Washington. While there, she played on the intramural soccer, softball, golf and tennis teams.

Pollard’s current Twitter account is @mrsshowtimetate. She also uses the same username for her Instagram account.

The two have been engaged since September 2015 and live in Hermosa Beach, California during the offseason. In an interview with The Knot, Pollard said she was completely surprised by the proposal.

“The whole thing was surreal,” Pollard told The Knot. “You always envision the day you get engaged and then when it really happens it’s the most crazy, indescribable feeling. Basically my hands flew to my mouth, I dropped my purse and just stared at him for what seemed like a long, long time while he was down on one knee. Everything he said was so perfect—it’s a pretty amazing feeling to have your best friend kneeling before you professing his love and basically saying his vows! I was blown away.”

2. The Couple Got Married in Cabo San Lucas

TMZ reported that the couple tied the knot in Cabo San Lucas, renting an entire beach for themselves and their 250 guests. He gave her a 5 carat wedding ring by Chase Gregory Jewelers, after giving her a 6 carat cushion-cut diamond engagement ring. Tate’s own wedding ring has 140 black diamonds and seven white diamonds.

According to TMZ, they also gave each other wedding gifts. Tate gave his wife a diamond tennis bracelet. He got a Rolex President watch with a classic champagne color dial.

Pollard tweeted that they had 11 groomsmen at the wedding. They also had a yacht party to celebrate the wedding.

3. She Once Lashed Out on Instagram When Someone Brought Up Rumors About Russell Wilson’s Ex-Wife & Tate

Back in 2014 and 2015, there were rumors that Tate had an affair with Ashton Meem, the ex-wife of Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson and that ultimately led to their divorce. However, Tate told TMZ that the rumors were “a bunch of bullshit.”

When someone brought this rumor up on Meem’s private Instagram account, it was Pollard who surprisingly slammed the troll from bringing it up. According to Deadspin, which posted screenshots of her comments, Pollard claimed Tate hired lawyers to sue “that blog site for slander.” (If Tate ever had planned on suing because of the rumors, it would have been for libel since “slander” is spoken.)

Pollard even told the troll, “Shall I tag your whole family so they know how heartless and disrespectful you are to women while hiding behind social media?” Pollard tagged other members of the person’s family, who were children.

4. Tate & Pollard Helped a Veteran Propose to His Longtime Girlfriend

In November 2016, USA Today reported reported that Pollard and Tate helped veteran Nik Schieder get engaged to his longtime girlfriend, Sheena Lader. Schieder was honored during a Lions game during the NFL Salute to Service month, and Tate and Pollard made sure it was an extra special day.

“From the second they walked into the suite, Nik was shaking,” Pollard told USA Today. “Sheena was uncomfortable so I was trying to get a read on her, trying to figure out does she know, is she super nervous … Luckily my whole family is there and they’re really outgoing so they kind of helped everyone ease into everything.”

The couple were escorted down to the field during the first quarter and Pollard tried some small talk to make sure the surprise wouldn’t be spoiled.

“And it went off without a hitch,” Pollard told USA Today. “It was just perfect … she had no idea, she thought the cameras were going to come on him and he was going to wave and the announcers were going to talk about his service and little did she know that he got down on one knee.”

This was the third time Pollard and Tate helped a veteran get engaged. His Golden Future Foundation has a partnership with jeweler Ritanni. Pollard has a relationship with Ritanni through her job at Harvey Nash.

“It’s always just a really cool story,” Pollard told USA Today. “The veterans are so blown away. When I was first talking to Nik, he got pretty choked up on the phone and he said ‘I never expected this to happen to me. I’m just really blown away.’”

5. She Wants People to Adopt Pets & Has Volunteered at the Michigan Humane Society

Another cause that’s close to her heart is pet adoptions. Tate and Pollard have a foster dog named Lucy. She wrote on Isntagram earlier this year that she has volunteered at the Michigan Humane Society and wished she “could foster them all.” She added, “#MyFavoriteBreedIsRescued.”

She frequently posts photos of dogs and always encourages her followers to adopt pets.
