It was a college football offseason full of change for Miami quarterback Carson Beck, including a breakup with now former girlfriend Hanna Cavinder. Beck and Cavinder have both discussed the breakup, but the former Miami basketball player was a bit more candid in her comments.
During an interview with Miami golfer Kai Trump (also the granddaughter of President Donald Trump), Cavinder unloaded on Beck and revealed why the couple broke up. The less-than-flattering comments about Beck went viral while the Miami quarterback mostly remained quiet.
“He has an ego,” Cavinder said back in April 2025 in a now deleted video, per Fox News. “He wanted people to stop and take a picture.
“He would, like, flip off people at the bar, and I’d be embarrassed. So I broke up with him, and all this cheating (expletive) came out. I had no idea. I didn’t break up with him because he cheated. I broke up with him because of like who he was.”
It is not a surprise that Cavinder and Beck are no longer on speaking terms, per ESPN’s Andrea Adelson.

In addition to the breakup, Beck also overcame a shoulder injury that ended his 2024 season with Georgia. Beck was able to bounce back in a major way at Miami, not only leading the Canes to the College Football Playoff, but posting multiple CFP wins along the way.
After months of silence, Beck made a personal admission on the challenges of the very public breakup.
“You make mistakes as a person, but it sucks that you have to go through something like that with someone that you care about, and now it’s all over the internet,” Beck told Adelson during an October 1, story titled, “At Miami, Carson Beck isn’t ‘trying to be Superman’ anymore.” “Half of what you see in the media is true. Half of what you see is not true.
“So, people pick their side of the story and run with it. The people that know the truth know the truth. But it’s been difficult.”
Hanna Cavinder & Carson Beck Broke Up Months After the QB Transferred From Georgia to Miami
There had been reasonable speculation that Beck transferred to Miami to join Cavinder in Coral Gables. Yet, when the college football season began, Beck and Cavinder’s breakup had been made public for several months.
Cavinder’s time as a college basketball player also ended after the 2024-25 season. The guard averaged 11.3 points, 2.8 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game in 29 starts during her final season with the Canes. Cavinder’s Instagram page (which is approaching one million followers) is now full of posts about travel, business ventures and the occasional sporting event.

Cavinder and Beck made a funny TikTok video announcing his transfer from Georgia to Miami. In the months following Beck’s transfer, things appeared to turn serious. Unless things have changed since October, Beck and Cavinder are no longer on speaking terms, per Adelson.
“His arm felt dead as he adjusted to not only throwing again, but the way his elbow felt,” Adelson wrote back on October 1. “Within two weeks, he felt normal — and knew he would be ready for the start of fall camp in August. But while he was working his way back, Beck was in the news again.
“Shortly after moving to Miami, he had his Lamborghini and a Mercedes stolen from the home he was sharing with Cavinder. The cars were not recovered. Then in April, Cavinder posted on social media that the two had broken up. They have not spoken since.”
