Trubisky's teammate Mike White was signed to the active roster Friday, and coach Sean McDermott said, "We hope we can get him in the game," Alec White of the Bills' official site reports. Trubisky is a decent fill-in fantasy guy, at least in terms of the wild wackiness of Week 18, but he's likely to cede a few snaps or a series to Josh Allen on the front end so Allen can keep his NFL active consecutive starts streak going. On top of that, the Bills are essentially using this as a preseason game, meaning Trubisky should get a good look from that point, but he may also need to yield a quarter of play or thereabouts to White on the back end of the game. The Bills have the capability of running up points no matter who is out there, especially when you consider their opponent might not mind getting the No. 1 overall pick in April. Just know that comparable options such as Joshua Dobbs or Aidan O'Connell might get a full game this week, while Trubisky will be some degree short.
Rapp (neck) has no injury designation ahead of Sunday's matchup against the Patriots. Rapp was limited throughout the Bills' week of practice after playing through his neck injury in the Week 17 win over the Jets, and it now appears he'll continue to play through the issue Sunday. Buffalo has already clinched the No. 2 seed in the AFC playoffs and is expected to rest its starters for most of the Week 18 contest; however, head coach Sean McDermott stated Rapp will still play "a bit" Sunday, per Alaina Getzenberg of ESPN.com.
Hamlin (ribs) has no injury designation ahead of Sunday's matchup against the Patriots. The 26-year-old safety from Pittsburgh has missed Buffalo's last three games due to back and ribs injuries, but it now appears that he'll return for the team's regular-season finale Sunday. Although the Bills have already clinched the AFC's No. 2 seed and are resting some of their starters, head coach Sean McDermott clarified that Hamlin will play "some" of the Week 18 contest, likely sitting out after receiving extra in-game reps, per Alaina Getzenberg of ESPN.com.
Samuel (rib) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Patriots. Buffalo has been one of the healthiest teams in the NFL all season, and that trend continues for Week 18. Samuel's the only questionable player for the Bills, while linebacker Terrel Bernard (quadriceps) is out. Joe Buscaglia of The Athletic believes Samuel could be among the team leaders in playing time at wide receiver if he suits up, as Buffalo is expected to rest key contributors -- including star quarterback Josh Allen -- for the majority of Sunday's regular-season finale.
Coach Sean McDermott said Friday that he feels good about Bernard's (quadriceps) chances of playing in next weekend's playoff opener, Maddy Glab of the Bills' official site reports. Bernard will not play Sunday against the Patriots, but it sounds like his injury suffered in Week 17 isn't serious enough to keep him sidelined long-term. Through 13 appearances this season, Bernard has logged 104 tackles (55 solo), including five TFLs and 1.0 sacks, three pass breakups, including two interceptions, and one fumble recovery.
The Bills signed White off their practice squad Friday. With Josh Allen set to only take a handful of snaps in Sunday's regular-season finale against the Patriots, White will be active as Mitchell Trubisky's backup for the remainder of the contest once Allen is pulled from the game. White has attempted just six regular-season passes since the start of 2023.
