Bills‘ new head coach, Joe Brady is in the process of assembling his coaching staff, and he may have found his new offensive line coach on Thursday.

The Bills Are Set to Hire a New Offensive Line Coach

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that the Bills are hiring Pat Meyer, the offensive line coach from the Steelers, to be their offensive line coach.

“The Bills are hiring respected Steelers O-line coach Pat Meyer as their O-line coach, source says, an important hire,” Rapoport wrote on X.

Rapoport noted that Brady and Meyer collaborated with the Carolina Panthers from 2020 to 2021, during which time Brady served as offensive coordinator and Meyer as offensive line coach.

The Steelers brought Meyer on board in 2022, and he dedicated the past four seasons to developing their offensive line. According to Pro Football Focus, Pittsburgh’s offensive line finished as the eighth-best in the NFL this season.

“Although they had to reshuffle multiple times due to injuries, the Steelers’ offensive line has developed into one of the NFL’s best, mainly due to the development of a young core,” Zoltán Buday wrote on Jan. 7. “Center Zach Frazier, right guard Mason McCormick and right tackle Troy Fautanu all completed just their second NFL regular seasons and improved from their rookie campaigns.

“The Steelers’ offensive line ranked second, only to Denver’s unit, in PFF pass-blocking efficiency rating (88.8). The group gave up 117 pressures — including 17 sacks — on 596 pass-blocking snaps.”

Buffalo Has a Great Offensive Line That Meyer Can Help More

Meyer is fortunate to be transitioning from the Steelers to the Bills, as Buffalo’s offensive line is just as strong as Pittsburgh’s. In fact, PFF ranked Buffalo’s offensive line quite highly this season, coming in at No. 6

“The Bills’ offensive line allowed a league-best four sacks in 2024, but this year, the unit gave up 17 sacks,” Buday added. “As a result, the front dropped from fourth place to 15th in PFF pass-blocking efficiency rating (85.6). The team’s interior offensive line did not allow a single sack in 2024, but guards David Edwards and O’Cyrus Torrence gave up three sacks apiece in 2025.”

It’s great to see Brady bringing on someone he used to work with, especially from a team that boasted one of the best offensive lines in the NFL.

The Bills have a dynamic quarterback in Josh Allen, complemented by a talented offensive line. Adding someone who can maximize the potential of the offensive lines is a significant boost for Buffalo as it moves forward.

As of Thursday, Brady still hasn’t hired a defensive coordinator, but this might be the most critical hire he makes this offseason.

The Buffalo defense has declined over the past few seasons, and getting it back on track is essential if the Bills want to make a run in the AFC and reach the Super Bowl next season.

It’s going to be interesting to see how the Bills perform under Brady in his first season as head coach. Even though Brady has been with Buffalo since 2022, stepping into the head coaching role feels different altogether.
