Buffalo Bills lineman Dion Dawkins shared some love for a rival player who suffered a frightening injury on Monday night.
Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill appeared to suffer a fractured leg after being tackled in the third quarter of the game against the New York Jets. He was carted off the field and taken to a hospital for evaluation, facing the prospect of a season-ending injury.
Many players reached out to Hill to offer their support, including Dawkins who posted a message on social media.
Dion Dawkins Sending Prayers to Rival
Dawkins took to X shortly after Hill’s injury, letting the Dolphins star know that he was on his mind.
“Prayers up for the cheetah #TyreekHill,” Dawkins wrote, adding a series of praying hands emoji.
Other players also left messages of support for Hill, including former teammate Patrick Mahomes. The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback left a message similar to the one shared by Dawkins, letting Hill know that he was praying for him.
“Prayers up man…..” Mahomes posted, ending his message with a pair of praying hands.
Dawkins has not always been so generous toward Buffalo’s rivals, often getting into scraps with opposing defensive linemen. He appears to hold particular animosity for the Jets, though was quick to send a message to Hill after the injury.
The Dolphins announced that Hill was being evaluated for a potentially dislocated knee, though the team did not have any more information about his diagnosis after ruling him out.
Tyreek Hill, Dion Dawkins Could Have Been Teammates
While it appears the Dolphins have lost Hill for the season, his injury could also have long-term effects on the direction of the team. Many insiders predicted the winless Dolphins could move Hill at the upcoming trade deadline, getting some draft capital for a likely rebuild.
Though the Bills are tight against the salary cap, they were seen as a dark-horse candidate to land Hill. Reporter Josh Weil of Pro Football Network suggested the Bills could be a top suitor for Hill.
Tyreek Hill, one of the most electrifying players in the whole league, is in an offense that is totally out of sync and is not getting him the ball in the open for him to do what he does best,” Weil wrote. If the Dolphins decide to take calls on Hill, there will be a plethora of teams lining up for his services, and this trade could be essential for an offense to take the next step to becoming Super Bowl-ready. He is that good.”
The Kansas City Chiefs were seen as a top contender to land Hill, so his injury could prevent him from going to a longtime rival. Though the Chiefs stumbled out to a 2-2 start this season, they showed signs of significant improvement in this week’s win over the Baltimore Ravens and still have top wide receiver Rashee Rice coming back from his six-game suspension.
The Bills have already beaten the Dolphins this year, and now will likely face them again without Hill.
