The Buffalo Bills selected Boston College offensive lineman Jude Bowry in the fourth round of the 2026 NFL Draft.
Bowry was a surprising pick for the Bills, but he was expected to serve as offensive line depth. At the time of the pick, Bowry wasn’t expected to have much of a role, but the team did lose Ryan VanDemark in free agency.
As Bills training camp is underway, Bills analyst Matt Parrino praised Bowry and how he’s looked in camp as he looks to get more work.
“Bowry has quickly established himself as the top tackle behind the starting duo of Dion Dawkins and Spencer Brown. The rookie showed off his power, balance, and quick twitch to thwart a pass rush from fellow rookie T.J. Parker during 11-on-11. Once the Bills lost veteran Ryan VanDemark to the Minnesota Vikings, the swing tackle job became one of the more underrated jobs available on Buffalo’s roster. Bowry hasn’t played in a game yet. But he’s proven he’s ready for even more challenges through the first two days of pads,” Parrino wrote.
If Bowry can win the swing tackle job, it would be a major development from a fourth-round pick and look like a potential steal for Brandon Beane.
Bowry played college football at Boston College.
Bills Scout Loved Jude Bowry
Although some thought Bowry was a reach for the Bills, the team was high on him.
After the NFL Draft on the Bills embedded show, president of football operations and general manager Brandon Beane talked about how they draft in the later rounds. He said he asks all the scouts for someone they love and a popular name was Bowry.
“We had our scouts write us an email of the player right now that you’re most convicted about in this fourth round,” Beane shared in the latest episode of Embedded. “I would say one of the guys that got a lot of love from our scouts was Jude Bowry.”
Buffalo ended up selecting Bowry 102nd overall. He looks like the real deal and someone who can be a swing tackle or play guard.
Buffalo Extends O’Cyrus Torrence
The Bills made another move to their offensive line on Friday.
Buffalo extended star offensive guard O’Cyrus Torrence a four-year, $78.4 million extension that includes $46 million guaranteed.
“He deserves every penny,” QB Josh Allen said. “…Cybo’s just that guy on the team where you ask anybody, I don’t think anybody could say a bad thing about O’Cyrus Torrence. And he’s the ultimate teammate.”
Beane, meanwhile, said the deal is done except for a few language things, but he doesn’t expect any holdup.
“The No. 1 thing we want to do is we want to be strong up front,” Beane said. “…We want to protect No. 17. That’s where it all starts.”
The Bills selected Torrence in the second round of the 2023 NFL draft. He’s become one of the best offensive guards in the NFL and a key part of Buffalo’s success.
