As the Bills finalize preparations for Sunday’s AFC Wild Card game against the Jaguars, they know what’s at stake. No reminders are needed.

“We’re treating it like any other week,” cornerback Tre’Davious White said Thursday, via the team’s website. “We’ve got a veteran-driven group, guys who know what’s at stake, know what type of urgency we need this time of year. That’s the plus for us.

“We’ve got that working for us, but also, we’ve got a lot of young guys that us older guys are pouring into. … We’re going to be ready to roll.”

Bills Prepped to Handle Road Atmosphere

This will be the Bills’ seventh straight trip to the playoffs but the first time since 2019 that they’re kicking off their Super Bowl chase on the road.

Under head coach Sean McDermott, they’ve won at least one playoff game in five consecutive years. Yet, they remain without a Lombardi Trophy.

Each experience has taught them what to expect.

“Typically, more hyped crowds. You have to be very good on snap timing,” quarterback Josh Allen said, via WGRZ 2 in Buffalo, of being on the road. “It allows defenses to hide their hand a little better. When they see a leg go up, they can move it while we can’t change. We’re going to have to be very good at pre-snap and post-snap reads and getting through them and run game, pass game, you name it. We’ve just got to make sure that we’re executing our details.”

Injuries Popping Up for Bills

A big challenge looms for Buffalo, especially with some key players nursing injuries.

The Jaguars closed the regular season with eight straight wins while averaging 33.6 points. Quarterback Trevor Lawrence had a big hand in that success, accounting for 24 touchdowns (19 passing, 5 rushing) and just five interceptions during Jacksonville’s current win streak.

The Bills rested several starters in their Week 18 win over the Jets, but kicker Matt Prater (quad) and rookie cornerback Maxwell Hairston (ankle) sustained injuries to complicate their outlook.
