The Philadelphia Flyers have a few significant gaps on their roster right now.

One of their top priorities should be searching for an elite center.

According to one NHL writer, they could acquire their missing piece from the Winnipeg Jets.

Philadelphia Flyers Could Land Mark Scheifele From Winnipeg Jets

According to Adam Gretz of Bleacher Report, the Flyers are one of the top three destinations for 33-year-old center Mark Scheifele.

This marks Scheifele’s 16th season in the NHL, with each season spent with the Jets.

But if the latest rumors become reality, his long journey in Winnipeg could be coming to an end.

Because the Flyers are in the market for a center, Scheifele’s veteran experience would be a valuable asset to the franchise.

“There is a need, not only for a center, but also for somebody that can just be a difference-maker offensively,” Gretz wrote. “As good as they have been defensively over the past few years, generating offense has been a major problem. Scheifele would obviously help fix that.”

Shipping Scheifele out would inevitably rattle the Jets, but historically, they’ve had a tendency to play it safe.

During his 2025-26 season, he posted a 36-67-103 performance through 82 games.

All things considered, he’s still relatively affordable, which should be enticing. He won’t break the bank, but he does offer elite value on the ice.

Ultimately, making a splash with Scheifele could be just enough to push the Flyers into playoff contention.

Where Do the Philadelphia Flyers Stand Right Now?

As the Flyers look for ways to fill the holes on their roster, their regular season is now well underway.

In their series opener on Wednesday, the Pittsburgh Penguins handed them a hideous 7-0 loss.

On Thursday, they faced yet another loss, this time 3-2 to the New Jersey Devils in overtime.

This leaves Philadelphia on a disappointing losing skid to start their campaign.

The Flyers’ next clash is scheduled for tonight, Oct. 3, at 7 p.m. ET against the Carolina Hurricanes at Xfinity Mobile Arena — a home game for Philadelphia.

Heading into the matchup, the Hurricanes are coming off a 5-2 loss to the Washington Capitals on Friday.

They, too, are on a two-game losing skid, one of which was an overtime loss (1-0) to the Florida Panthers in their season opener.

Philadelphia is a slight favorite to win the game while Carolina stands as an underdog.

Both teams are looking to post a win to their record for the first time this year, but since this is a home game, the Flyers will automatically have a leg up in the matchup.
