Alexander “Sascha” Zverev is looking to win his first Grand Slam title at the Australian Open. However, he must defeat the world’s No. 1 player, Carlos Alcaraz, in the semifinals first.
Zverev, ranked No. 3, most recently took down Learner Tien in four sets during the quarterfinals to reach his 10th career Grand Slam semifinal. He’s 6-6 in his career against Alcaraz.
Before the Australian Open started, Zverev caused a stir with off-court news. While he enjoyed a tropical vacation with longtime girlfriend Sophia Thomalla in December, and she most recently cheered him on at the Erste Bank Open in October, Thomalla is not in Melbourne.
Zverev was instead spotted at the Australian Open with model Caroline Daur, sparking rumors that he and Thomalla broke up.
Daur caught Zverev’s quarterfinal match against Tien; however, she also attended close friend Eva Lys’ match. The influencer also seems to be there for work, showing off her Ralph Lauren fits on Instagram.
According to the Daily Mail, however, Zverev and Daur are a new item, and the couple debuted their romance in Sydney.
This wouldn’t be Daur’s first high-profile romance, as she was previously linked to Romeo Beckham, son of soccer star David Beckham and model Victoria Beckham.
While rumors swirl around Zverev and Daur, fans want to know what might’ve happened between him and Thomalla.
Alexander Zverev & Girlfriend Sophia Thomalla Enjoyed a Tropical Getaway in December

The German tennis star started dating Thomalla in 2020, and she’s been a regular at his matches ever since. They lovingly posed with their dog, Mishka, in October. Zverev tagged Thomalla, who hosts Germany’s version of MTV’s “Are You the One?,” in an Instagram post on December 7. He posted a video and wrote, “Memories made 🩵 @soneva ☀️🏝️🌊.”
Thomalla also posted a shared album from the trip and wrote, “Chasing sunsets, tan lines and a good time ☀️.”
She still follows Zverev on Instagram, and Zverev still follows her there. If something happened between them, they appear to remain friendly. Neither of them has deleted any photos together. However, Thomalla hasn’t posted any tennis-related posts during Zverev’s run at the Australian Open.
Alexander Zverev Shares a Daughter With Ex-Girlfriend Brenda Patea, the Former Couple Settled Out of Court Following Accusations of Physical Abuse

GettyBrenda Patea, former partner of German tennis player Alexander Zverev, arrives at the courthouse in Berlin on May 31, 2024.
Zverev previously dated Brenda Patea, with whom he shares a daughter. Patea accused Zverev of physical abuse but they “reached an out-of-court settlement,” DW News’ Jonathan Crane reported in June 2024
Patea accused Zverev of strangling her at the model’s Berlin apartment building in May 2020. The Berlin court’s presiding judge, Barbara Lüders, announced proceedings were “discontinued” without a verdict, Crane reported.
Katharina Dierlamm, one of Zverev’s criminal defense lawyers, told the court, “We are happy that an agreement has been reached. This is for the good of the child that they have together, so it has the chance to grow up without conflict.”
Kristin Hartmann, one of Patea’s lawyers confirmed to DW News, “We applied for the settlement. The daughter was really suffering. So now they can both look to the future and get on with their lives. We ended this deal with [the feeling] that people should stop throwing things at each other.” Craned noted that “under the agreement, there is no admission of guilt by Zverev.”
The Olympic gold medalist agreed to pay the $218,000 in court costs.
