Black Friday 2014 will feature huge deals on electronics like tablets, TVs, smartphones, and much more. Black Friday is generally a great time to find bargains on electronics, though sometimes those deals are on models that are somewhat older. We’ve scoured the Black Friday ads for the biggest retailers in the US, and rounded up ten Black Friday deals you need to know about. Read on to see which ten electronics deals are must-buys for Black Friday 2014.
1. TARGET: New iPad Air 2 16GB for $499 (With a Free $140 Target Gift Card)
Apple rarely offers discounts on their products, and what discounts they do offer are pretty meager. That being said, this iPad Air 2 tablet is hot off the presses, and comes with a free $140 Target gift card, which makes it a very appealing deal. The iPad Air 2 has some amazing specs, and it’s a tablet worth buying on Black Friday, even if the discount isn’t really a discount. You may not be saving any money, but that gift card softens the blow of paying full price.
It’s worth noting the new iPad Mini 3 is also on sale during Target’s Black Friday sale. However, it is a bit wimpier in terms of specs than the iPaid Air 2, so bear that in mind before pulling the trigger on this cute little tab.
ZDNet points out that this is one of the few “computing” deals that Target is offering for Black Friday 2014:
“While Target using gift cards instead of sale prices on iPads may be disappointing, if not suprising, it’s still one of the few computer-related deals the retailer is advertising for Black Friday. No laptop deals are being promoted, and only a couple of other tablet specials are listed. These include dirt-cheap RCA Android slates as doorbusters — $39.99 for a 7-inch tablet and $69.99 for an 8-inch version…
Otherwise the one other tablet ‘deal’ is the kid-friendly Nabi 2, which Target is promoting as a $129.99 doorbuster. You should note that the tablet is a couple of years old, a device that was promoted back during Black Friday 2012. “
If this is a must-have deal for you, it might be a good idea to check out our post on the best iPad Air 2 accessories to see what other items might pair well with this tab.
2. TARGET: GoPro HERO3+ Silver edition for $249.99 (With a Free $50 Target Gift Card)
Selling for about $50 less than Amazon, this is a pretty sweet GoPro deal. That being said, there is a newer version of this camera available. This is also a “Doorbuster” deal, so quantities will be extremely limited for this sale item.
You may also be interested in buying some cool accessories to go with the GoPro, such as a flotation devices, carrying cases, or mounts. If you have an outdoorsy photography fan in your life, a GoPro is the perfect gift.
3. BEST BUY: 32GB Wii U Bundle for $359.97
If you’re a Nintendo fan (or just shopping for one), this bundle is pretty darn sweet. The Black Friday bundle at Best Buy includes four games: Super Mario 3D World, NintendoLand, Super Smash Bros for Wii U, and Donkey Kong Country Tropical. In a Black Friday season where a lot of the console bundles only have two games, a bundle with four games is awesome. If you want a great, kid-friendly video game bundle, this will get you started.
4. BEST BUY: Samsung Galaxy S5 for $1 (With 2-Year Activation)
The Samsung Galaxy S5 came out last spring, and the next version of the phone will be the Samsung Galaxy S6, due out in early 2015. With a new Galaxy S phone coming in just a few months, it’s no wonder Best Buy is selling the S5 for just $1. It’s a good deal, but only if you’re not planning on getting a new phone in a few months. If you’re planning to grab this deal from Best Buy, you might want to check out our recommendations for the best Galaxy S5 cases.
You should note that Best Buy is also running the same $1 (with 2-year activation) promo for the LG G3. We recently rounded up a guide to the ten best cases for the LG G3, which you should read before buying a case.
5. WALMART: iPhone 6 and iPhone 5s for $0 Down
If you haven’t pulled the trigger on a new iPhone yet, Black Friday might be the right time. You can get a new iPhone 6 or the iPhone 5s for $0 down, but this deal is only good for qualified buyers. The iPhone 5S 16GB can be yours for $79 with a 2-year contract. The iPhone 6 16GB will cost $179 with a 2-year contract. Both deals come with a bonus $75 Walmart Gift Card.
It’s also worth pointing out that Walmart will have some sweet Black Friday deals on iPhone 6 cases from trusted brands like Speck and Otterbox. You can learn more about those sales in our guide to the best iPhone 6 case sales for Black Friday 2014.
6. WALMART: LG Blu-Ray Player for $35
It’s hard to sneer at a Blu-ray player for under $40, especially when it comes from a reliable brand like LG. Whether you’re looking to replace an existing Blu-ray player, or finally get your parents on the HD train, this is a solid deal. Before you pull the trigger on this deal, you might want to review our guide to the best Blu-ray players and see if there is a model that you like better.
7. WALMART: Beats Pill Portable Speaker for $99.95
Wal-Mart is selling this portable speaker from Beats for $100 off. If you love the Beats brand, or you just want a simple way to listen to music on your phone with robust sound, this is a good option. Beats has some serious street fred, especially with a lot of teens and twentysomethings.
8. KMART: 7-Inch Galaxy Tab 4 for $149.99
Technically, this is a Thanksgiving doorbuster, for those people who just can’t wait until Black Friday to start their shopping. Kmart members who snag this deal will also get $20 back in points. Kmart is selling this tablet for $50 less than the normal price. If you plan on heading out on Thanksgiving to get a jump on those Black Friday deals, make sure Kmart is on your itinerary. You can see user reviews of the Galaxy Tab 4 here.
9. MEIJER: 29-Inch Phillips TV for $189
Meijer has several Black Friday 2014 TV deals to choose from. As you can see from their ad above, there are multiple TV sets available for under $400. If you’re shopping for a secondary TV for a bedroom, kid’s room, or guest room, the 29-Inch Phillips TV for $189 is an option worth considering. However, this TV is probably a bit small to be your primary living room TV set.
10. BEST BUY: 11.6-Inch Acer Chromebook for $149
This itty bitty Chromebook is a great first computer for the kid or senior citizen in your life. It’s also ideal for students who do most of their work in the cloud, and people who prefer a smaller form factor when shopping for a laptop.
A Chromebook does have some limitations that a regular laptop does not, including the fact that many apps won’t work on your Chromebook without a Wi-Fi connection. You can learn more about Chromebooks here.
