The View may have a new moderator come this fall. Whoopi Goldberg’s contract expires at the end of the season and she’s looking to get out, according to TheWrap. She joined the ABC talk show in 2007 when she replaced Rosie O’Donnell as the moderator.
“Whoopi has told those close to her she will exit the show,” a daytime TV veteran told TheWrap.
The rumors of Goldberg leaving could be a tactic to get a better deal on her next contract. She remains in contract negotiations with ABC.
“We want her back and are trying to make that happen,” a source close to the show told TheWrap.
Raven-Symoné may also exit The View. She joined the show at the start of season 18 after guest co-hosting a few times in the spring of 2015, and replaced O’Donnell, who had returned to the panel in season 17.
A rep for ABC denied the reports to New York Daily News on Tuesday saying they are “nothing but rumor and speculation from unnamed sources.”
The remaining co-hosts include Michelle Collins, Candace Cameron Bure, Paula Faris and Joy Behar, who returned last seen after taking a hiatus for the two years prior. She was an original member of the panel when The View began in 1997 and stayed on for 16 seasons.
ABC hopes to keep Bure on the panel, but the Fuller House star has complained about the commute between New York, where the talk show films, and Los Angeles, according to the Daily News.
