Law & Order: SVU is currently the longest-running primetime drama in the U.S. and is back for its 18th season. Mariska Hargitay is once again leading the team as Olivia Benson. In the season premiere, the team works with a counter-terrorism task force after the search for a young boy’s parents is linked to a potential mass casualty event in New York City. Read on for a preview of the episode and to learn when the show debuts.

At the end of season five, Sgt. Mike Dodds (Andy Karl) died and Det. Dominick Carisi (Peter Scanavino) decided to stay at SVU. Lt. Benson is also bringing up orphan Noah Porter and is in a relationship with Capt. Ed Tucker (Robert John Burke). The personal storylines might be taking a backseat for the season premiere though, as the team handles a potential mass-casualty event.

EPISODE DESCRIPTION: “Terrorized”: A young boy is found wandering alone in Central Park and the search for his parents leads to startling evidence of a planned mass casualty event in the city. As the SVU works with the joint-terrorism task force to find the suspects and the motive, Lt. Benson (Mariska Hargitay) must also convince Barba (Raúl Esparza) to address allegations of rape and torture the boy’s mother discloses. Also starring Ice T (Det. Odafin Tutuola), Kelli Giddish (Det. Amanda Rollins) and Peter Scanavino (Det. Sonny Carisi). Guest starring Peter Gallagher (Chief Dodds), Robert John Burke (Capt. Tucker), Elizabeth Marvel (Rita Calhoun), Natia Dune (Ana Kapic) and Marc Damon Johnson (Agent Dan Conley).
