‘Braxton Family Values ‘ Season 5: Meet the Cast

Toni, Tamar, Traci, Towanda, and Trina are the sisters that make up the dynamic and famous Braxton Family. Born to Rev. Michael Braxton Sr. and Evelyn Braxton, the crew is originally from Maryland, but splits their time between Atlanta and LA. In 1989, the five sisters signed their first record deal, and one year later, they released their first single, titled Good Life. Unfortunately, the band wasn't commercially successfully (which may have had something to do with the age gap between all the girls) and were dropped from their deal with Artista Records not longer after the single was released. In 1991, Toni was picked up by the newly formed LaFace Records as their first solo female artist, and in 1996, Tamar, Trina, and Towanda released an album called So Many Ways, which reached No. 26 on the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Album charts. After Tamar left to pursue her own solo career in 1999 with DreamWorks Records, the sisters decided to part ways. In 2011, however, the family united for WE’s TV series Braxton Family Values. The show was a hit, and after airing just four episodes,it was renewed for a second season. This spring marks the fifth season of the show, in which the family deals with the aftermath of their mother, Evelyn’s, stroke. They also confront new issues related to their estranged father.
