Tatis went 1-for-2 with two RBI, a run scored and a walk in Thursday's win over the Mariners. Tatis plated two runs with a two-out single that scored both Luis Campusano and Jake Cronenworth, and now he's hit safely in all but one of the last eight games in which he's recorded at least one at-bat. The star outfielder has been the engine that has been driving the Padres offense in that stretch. He's hitting .255 with a .642 OPS since the beginning of April, but during the aforementioned stretch, the numbers improve to an impressive .323 average with a .733 OPS.

Fernando Tatis: Breaking News
Not in Wednesday's lineup
Tatis is not in the Padres' starting lineup against the Mariners on Wednesday, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports. Tatis is getting a rest day Wednesday, as the Padres are rolling with Nick Castellanos, Jackson Merrill and Ramon Laureano in the outfield from right to left. Tatis has reached base safely in nine of his last 10 games, and over that span he has gone 11-for-41 (.268) with two steals, five runs scored and five RBI.
Makes first start at second base
Tatis started at second base Saturday versus Colorado, going 3-for-4 with a double, an RBI and a stolen base. Tatis' first MLB start at the keystone came out of the blue, though he occasionally takes grounders at second during practice and made one MLB appearance there late in a game in 2023 while also logging 10 starts at the position early in his minor-league career, per Dennis Lin of The Athletic. It remains to be seen if the two-time Gold Glove award-winning outfielder will shift to second base on a frequent basis, but he looked comfortable at the position Saturday, even turning a double play. It would be a major boon for fantasy managers if Tatis can play enough at the keystone to earn eligibility there, as its generally regarded one of the shallower positions.
