For only the sixth time in the Super Bowl era, two quarterbacks were taken with the top-two picks in this year’s NFL Draft.
Jameis Winston (No. 1 overall, Buccaneers) and Marcus Mariota (No. 2, Titans) will each try to lead their respective teams to Week 1 wins as Tampa Bay and Tennessee square off in Tampa on Sunday at 4:25 p.m. ET.
Both men won the Heisman Trophy. Each made it to the National Championship Game at the collegiate level. But for all of the similarities the two have shared in their football careers thus far, the two seem have started to go on divergent paths.
Mariota’s impressive 70 percent completion percentage and 102.9 quarterback rating, contrasted with Winston’s possible worst preseason for a top pick quarterback in 15 years, makes for an interesting what-to-watch-for.
No matter the outcome of this Sunday’s game, all eyes will be on the prized rookie signal callers.
