Two of Europe’s best managers collide Wednesday when table leaders Arsenal take on Liverpool. Jurgen Klopp expressed his admiration for Arsene Wenger earlier this week, calling him “one of the best in the world.”
“He had always my biggest respect but now it’s a little bit bigger since I’m here. That’s really a brilliant job he’s done – 19-and-a-half years,” Klopp said earlier this week.
Despite Klopp being relatively new to England, he and Wenger have faced off several times in recent years. Arsenal took on Klopp’s Borussia Dortmund side six times from 2011 to 2014, with Wenger currently holding a 3-2 lead in the series.
Klopp’s side may be lower in the table, but Liverpool have played very well against England’s elite this season. Their most impressive win of the season was at the Etihad, when they were 4-1 winners over Manchester City. They’ve also knocked off Chelsea and Leicester, but Arsenal looks to be their toughest task yet.
