Winning a golf major puts a player in elite company. It’s a feeling he or she will never forget.
It will also put a lot of extra money into your bank account.
In 2015, the Masters total purse came in at $10 million, up from $9 million in 2014. The winner’s share a year ago was $1.8 million. That, of course, went to Jordan Spieth.
Those numbers are expected to remain the same for 2016. It was announced the total purse will be $10 million with the winner taking home $1.8 million. The runner-up also becomes a millionaire, earning $1.08M.
This year’s winner was Danny Willett, who used a bogey-free 67 and a meltdown by Spieth to get the victory.
