Dmitri Payet came up huge when his country needed him most. At the 88′ mark, Payet sent in a ball that curved just enough to find the top left corner of the net. It gave France their second goal in a 2-1 victory over Romania.
Payet also had the assist on France’s first goal. France came up with a 1-0 lead early in the second half. After France was called for a penalty inside the box, Romania answered with a penalty kick to tie the match 1-1.
Just when it looked like France would be settling for a draw, Payet come up with a wonder goal. Just a few minutes later, the game was whistled complete and France picked up three points to start the tournament.
