Looked like a non-contact injury for Keenan. Happened as he was changing speeds/direction.
Keenan Allen just can’t catch a break.
The star San Diego Chargers wide receiver, who was on pace for a monster 2015 season before missed the second half of the year with a freak kidney injury, suffered what appeared to be a major right knee injury in the second quarter of Sunday’s season opener vs. the Kansas City Chiefs. Sports Illustrated’s Chris Burke described the play, which you can watch above:
Keenan Allen’s leg just gave out while he was making a cut on a route. Bumped a bit by defender but nowhere near his knee. Looked bad.

Allen, who appeared to be in serious pain, was eventually carted off the field and quickly ruled out for the rest of the game, which is obviously a very concerning sign.

Although there is no official news on the status of Allen, who was off to a magnificent start with 63 yards on six catches against Chiefs All-Pro corner Marcus Peters, the concern is that the 24-year-old has suffered a torn ACL:
