Believe it or not, there are playoff implications Sunday night when the Texans host the Colts. 9-7 was enough to win the AFC South last year, and with the entire division one game apart, every tiebreaker is valuable.

Prediction

The Texans have lost two of three, but those opponents might be the two best teams in football. With that in mind, Sunday night is a huge start for the development of Brock Osweiler. Houston will be without rookie Will Fuller on the outside, making it even more important for DeAndre Hopkins to have a strong performance. Hopkins has struggled recently, hauling in just six passes over the last two games.

Osweiler will have a strong game as long as Houston can find their balance. Lamar Miller saw a season-low eight carries last week against Minnesota, after carrying the ball at least 20 times each of the first three weeks.

For the Colts, it’s all about protecting Andrew Luck. He’s already been sacked 20 times this season, as the Colts have had to pass their way out of holes each and every week.

Interesting betting note: If you took the Colts in the second half every week this season, you’d be 5-0.

The Texans are the pick tonight. Lamar Miller should have a strong game against the Colts weak run defense, and they should put enough pressure on Luck to force mistakes.

Prediction: Texans 27, Colts 23 (Texans against the spread, Over 48)
