The second race of the Triple Crown gets underway today at Pimlico. The race has a post time of 6:48 p.m. Eastern but NBC will begin their broadcast coverage at 5 p.m. Eastern.

Here’s the details for tonight’s 2017 Preakness Stakes.

Date: Saturday, May 20, 2017

Time: 6:48 p.m. Eastern

Location: Pimlico Race Course, Baltimore, Maryland

TV Channel: NBC

Odds: Always Dreaming and Classic Empire are the favorites heading into the race.

Race Preview: Always Dreaming is looking for a repeat performance from two weeks ago at Churchill Downs. The favorite will have a much smaller field to compete against with just ten horses in today’s race.

Classic Empire is looking for redemption after facing less than ideal circumstance in the Derby. The horse suffered a swollen eye during the race. With just two weeks between races, it is worth watching how he competes at the Preakness.

There are several shooters who could give the favorites a run. Conquest Mo Money and Multiplier are two horses to watch. Both skipped the Derby to focus on preparing for the Preakness. Conquest Mo Money has more of a proven track record with a close second finish at the Arkansas Derby. What Multiplier lacks in experience he has the potential to make up for with elite speed. He has the single highest BRIS score of any Preakness horse with his performance at the Illinois Derby.

All this points to an exciting race as Always Dreaming tries to head to the Belmont with a chance to win the Triple Crown.
