There’s quite a lot going on for the Buffalo Bills these days.

The team recently fired head coach Sean McDermott and is in the middle of interviewing to find his replacement.

Buffalo has also taken some heat from its fans after firing McDermott but promoting general manager Brandon Beane—who some blame for the team’s shortcomings more than McDermott—to president of football operations.

And while there’s plenty of turmoil to go around, there is some good news to celebrate in Buffalo on Thursday morning.

Though the Bills failed to get past the Denver Broncos in the divisional round—falling 33-30 in overtime—quarterback Josh Allen nearly willed them to their third AFC Championship game appearance with his impressive performance.

Allen is hands down the most valuable player on the Bills roster, and on Thursday it was announced he was a finalist for league MVP for the third time in his career.

The other finalists include Los Angeles Rams QB Matthew Stafford, New England Patriots QB Drake Maye, Jacksonville Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence, and San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffery.

The winner of the award will be revealed on Feb. 5 at the Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco at the NFL Honors ceremony three days before the Super Bowl.

“3x Finalist. Josh Allen,” the Bills announced on Thursday.

Allen won the award last year in a controversial decision.

He threw for 3,731 yards, 28 touchdowns, and 6 interceptions with a passer rating of 101.4 while rushing for another 531 yards and 12 touchdowns.

He narrowly edged out Baltimore Ravens QB Lamar Jackson, who totaled 5,087 total yards (4,172 passing, 915 rushing) with 44 total touchdowns (41 passing, 4 rushing), 4 interceptions, and a 119.6 passer rating.

Many felt Jackson should’ve won the award because he had more production and was named a first-team All-Pro by the Associated Press while Allen was a second-team selection.

The 2025 season was a record-breaking one for Allen.

He passed former Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton for the most rushing touchdowns by a quarterback in NFL history, and the most games with a rushing and passing touchdown.

He also passed Hall of Famer Peyton Manning for the most total touchdowns by a player 30 years or younger.

Allen also became the youngest and fastest player to score 300 regular-season touchdowns in NFL history, and he became the first player in NFL history with 25 or more touchdown passes and 8 or more touchdown runs in postseason history.

Additionally, Allen was also the first player in NFL history with multiple games of at least 3 touchdown passes and three 3 rushing touchdowns, and he was just the fourth QB to hit 95 combined wins in his first 8 seasons.

Allen finished the year with 3,668 yards passing, 25 touchdowns, 10 interceptions, and a 102.2 passer rating. He also rushed for 579 yards and 14 additional scores as well.

The 29-year-old led the NFL in rushing yards and rushing touchdowns by a QB, and he ranked second in the league in completion percentage (69.3), fifth in passer rating, ninth in touchdown passes, 11th in passing yards, and he had the fourth-lowest turnover-worthy play percentage (2.4%) among all qualifying QBs, per Pro Football Focus.
