The Buffalo Bills had to face former wide receiver Stefon Diggs twice last season with the New England Patriots, and one NFL insider believes they could face him again this season.
Diggs was cut loose by the Patriots in the weeks after the team’s Super Bowl loss and has remained on the open market. SI.com insider Albert Breer believes he could soon find a new NFL team, suggesting that one of Buffalo’s top rivals could land him.
Stefon Diggs Could Bolster Top AFC Rival
Breer threw cold water on the idea of Diggs returning to the Patriots on a new contract, pointing out that Buffalo’s AFC East rival is more focused on a trade for star A.J. Brown.
“I do think an A.J. Brown trade will happen. I also don’t think, for a variety of reasons, you’ll see Diggs and A.J. Brown together in New England,” Breer wrote.
While the Patriots may have left the door open for Diggs to come back, Breer believes that the Kansas City Chiefs are one of a small handful of teams that would be a better fit.
Now, I believe the Patriots love Diggs, and Diggs would love to return,” Breer wrote. “But any realistic talk about his return, to me, hinges on whether the Brown trade happens. Assuming Brown does become a Patriot, I think Diggs will probably be somewhere in that one-year, $10 million range. The Chiefs could make sense. The Commanders might, too, since Diggs is from D.C. The Falcons and Rams would also be interesting landing spots.”
The Chiefs are looking to boost their offense after the unit struggled at times last season, and Diggs would give Mahomes a new No. 1 receiver. The team could also use a steady veteran like Diggs in case Mahomes, who is recovering from a torn ACL that cut short his 2025 season, isn’t ready to start the season. Diggs would give veteran fill-in Justin Fields a steady target in that case.
Diggs Could Join Different AFC Rival
There has also been speculation that Diggs could join the Baltimore Ravens, which intensified when the receiver posted a pair of eye emoji on a post suggesting he sign there. Reporters Ryan Mink and Clifton Brown of the Ravens official website suggested the Ravens could have interest, but it would likely come at the expense of No. 3 receiver Devontez Walker’s development.
“Do the Ravens feel they are willing to bet on a Walker Year 3 breakout and the rookies making quick contributions?” their report noted. “If Diggs or any other veteran were to sign, it would mean fewer opportunities for those younger players, but they also have to earn those opportunities this summer in practice.”
The report added that the Ravens have tried making some veteran additions to their wide receiving corps, but found only mixed results.
“The Ravens have brought in veteran receivers in recent years, with Odell Beckham Jr. (2023), Nelson Agholor (2023-24), and DeAndre Hopkins (2025). None produced big results,” the report noted. “Hopkins was added to be a contested catch monster, which is partly why the Ravens drafted Lane.”
