Frances Tiafoe punched his ticket to the 2026 Cincinnati Open quarterfinals after upsetting Felix Auger-Aliassime 6-3,6-4.
Tiafoe (No. 17) was proud of his performance against the Canadian star, the second-highest seed in the tournament. “Super solid from the back of the court. Didn’t have many errors,” he said during his on-court interview. “I just tried to make it tough for him. Make him play a lot of balls, play fast and rushed him a little bit and I did a great job of it. Pretty happy with how I played.”
Next up, he takes on Lorenzo Musetti on Friday, August 21. While the 28-year-old competes in his second Masters 1000 quarterfinal of the season, his longtime girlfriend, Ayan Broomfield, is cheering him on.

Broomfield, a former college tennis doubles champ turned influencer, first started dating Tiafoe in 2015. The couple went Instagram official in 2018. Despite Tiafoe’s demanding tennis schedule this summer, he made sure his girlfriend felt the love for her 29th birthday.

Tiafoe didn’t let his “very disappointing” finish at the Washington Open or the right-hand injury he suffered during the Canadian Open keep him from planning a sweet surprise party for Broomfield.
He posted on Instagram just before his first match in Ohio, “Brought 29 in the right way for my ❤️ @ayan.broomfield. Surprise Bday at its finest. Sooo happy to celebrate with you & yours. A night to remember love you bb 😍😍😘😘🥰🥰.”
Tiafoe gave a shoutout to Jeff Ruby’s Steakhouse in Cincinnati for a “first class experience.” In addition to a red velvet cake and a table full of friends and family, Tiafoe decorated the room with flowers and polaroids of the former Canadian tennis player.
Broomfield commented, “You got me 🥹😩🥰 thank you big 💋.” She also posted a video from the epic dinner on her Instagram page and wrote, “best birthday EVER 🥹🥰.”

Before this season started, Tiafoe made it clear that Broomfield played an essential role in his life — on and off the court.
“The key to a very successful man, I think it’s a lot of things. But I think number one is a strong woman in your corner,” Tiafoe told ATPTour.com in February.
“A lot of times, it’ll just ground you… And I think a lot of times, when you don’t have that because you’re all over the map, they can be detail oriented, they kind of paint the picture for you, help guide you to somewhere you’re trying to go. Sometimes they believe in you more than you believe in yourself. And that’s helped me a lot, so shout out to her.”
And with her tennis background, she’s a 2019 NCAA women’s doubles champion, she provides the best support. “It’s nice to come home and vent and be like, ‘Man, the match, what do you think?’ Because it’s hard. This sport, it’s hard to really understand it if you’re not really in it. And obviously the lifestyle.
“So she’s been critical not only for my career, but for my life. She’s so solid. She’s been there for me for so many years, and happy to have her, very important.”
