Tinoco (elbow) elected free agency Saturday, Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald reports. Tinoco was outrighted off the Marlins' 40-man roster Wednesday and will now enter the open market while he recovers from a UCL surgery he underwent in September. He's expected to take the mound again in 2027.
The Marlins activated Tinoco (elbow) from the 60-day injured list and outrighted him to Triple-A Jacksonville on Wednesday. Tinoco has been outrighted previously, so he has the ability to elect free agency. The right-handed reliever will be sidelined until 2027 after undergoing UCL surgery in September.
